Do not stay at this hotel

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Dec 2024
DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. It is the worse hotel we’ve ever stayed in, in fact I would not call it a hotel, they are box rooms in an old mill or warehouse. I have never seen a room so small, there are no wardrobes, no shelves, no cupboards, just 2 hangers fixed to the wall, the walls are paper thin, there are no facilities and even though it is classed as a budget hotel, it is still over priced for what it is. We only took it as we were looking for something on the last minute but I was still shocked when I saw it. Location wasn’t that good for us either with bad feet, we thought we would be in the centre of the northern quarter but it’s at the very far end next to Piccadilly. The only things in it’s favour are that it was exceptionally clean and the bed was comfortable so for that I would give it a generous 2 out of 10.

Basic budget hotel, clean, close to city centre. Staff are lovely. No problems or complaints from me, I would stay again. The staff are very helpful , coffee/tea available from machine was really nice. Vending machine for drinks and sweets etc.

Will be avoiding this brand in future.

CONS
- Bed was very uncomfortable.
- Damp seeping through the walls.
- You can hear every word coming from neighbouring rooms, as if you were in bed with them.
- No effort to soundproof the rooms from the street or from the hotel corridor.
- Our room was next to the staff cupboard and they had a delivery at 6am on Sunday so we had banging from 6am-8am.
- No surface space so everything goes on the floor and only two coat hangers fixed to the wall.
- Aircon was broken or needed an engineering degree to figure out so we froze overnight.
- No option for natural light because the window was completely exposed to passers by.

PROS
- Reception staff were pleasant.
- Central Location

Compact but perfect location and service. 24 hour front desk made us feel extremely safe and welcomed throughout. So close to so many local attractions and transport links. Overall really felt as though I got my moneys worth and could not recommend enough.

Right..... Now read this review 1st. I will be as honest as I possible can about this BUDGET hotel. I paid £43 for 1 night for my daughter and me, on an early Christmas shopping trip to Manchester. We arrived early and was able to leave our luggage in reception so we could go shopping. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to the Arndale centre, Afflecks Palace and eateries. The staff were extremely friendly on reception. You will need a valid credit/debit card and ID to check in. The hotel is what looks like an old mill/factory, lots of the original features are still there and give an industrial feel to the interior. The corridors are almost like a storage facility, quirky and different. Now, the rooms are VERY SMALL, so please don't book if you're expecting a good sized room with chairs etc. Our room measured roughly 14ft/10ft including the bathroom. BUT it does have everything that is essential for a short stay. Shower room, full length mirror, bed, tv. There is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but there is a coffee machine on the Ground floor that makes great coffee. There's also a vending machine selling pop and sweets. The wifi is excellent with no lags or drops. The room has a bare brick wall feature, original sash windows and covered beamed ceilings. Extremely clean. There is air-conditioning in every room, but no storage space for clothing so you'll need to live out of your case. The only thing I really didn't like was the glass wall in the bathroom (picture attached) I don't want someone watching me shower or on the loo. Very undignified and exposing. Things I'd recommend to the Manager is new pillows, they are very flat, but not a drama, as I asked for extra. Overall, the designer of the rooms was quite obviously a man as no woman would design a glass bathroom wall. But perfectly suitable for a 1 night stay in the city. Any longer than that may be a struggle for comfort.

Awful place to stay, reception refuse to sign for and accept parcels of hotel guests. Rooms are all the same pathetic poxy small size. Trying to move around my room was pointless. Should have spent more money and gone Travellodge or Yotel Manchester or something like that.
