The view from your bedroom window!
Spacious master bedroom - luxury bedding, and an antique Durham quilt to keep you cosy.
This quaintly shaped room has a narrow (but full length) bed, hangers for your clothes...
Lots of options to vary the lighting to make just the right ambience - here with a rise/fall light
You'll find thick, luxurious towels waiting for you, so no need to bring your own.
Dining in is always an option when you’ve a fully equipped kitchen.
Though we've no garden, the castle lawns provide a perfect picnic spot, right on your doorstep!
at the top of Nip Hill...and you're at the castle!
A view across the courtyard
Entrance to our staircase is under this ancient covered walkway.
Nipping up Nip Hill!
Sometimes even when the weather's bad, it's good - the castle looking particularly atmospheric.

“Well appointed, quaint, cosy and good location”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

My teenage son and I stayed at Nip Hill for a long weekend just before Easter. Don't be put off by parking issues as there is convenient long stay parking in a number of locations nearby (Dallas Road best for price and just 5 mins walk away). Cottage is most unusual and in the best part of Lancaster and only moments from the center. Also close to some nice walks along the river. We recommend this rental.

“Fantastic flat, full of character in a great location”

Just returned from a 4 day break at Nip Hill which we enjoyed enormously. The flat is in a historic house in the oldest part of the beautiful and historic city of Lancaster. It's on Castle Hill, looking out on the amazing castle (don't miss it!) and 2 minutes from the shops, museums, cafes and restaurants that Lancaster has in abundance. The flat is very comfortable, quiet and relaxing and full of character. It has been very tastefully and thoughtfully equipped, there was nothing forgotten. It has a peaceful atmosphere so we felt at home straightaway..The owner, Cathy, couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and welcoming and was really keen for us to enjoy our stay.Lancaster is a much-under-rated holiday destination: as well as the Castle, it has 4 excellent museums, the magnificent Ashton Memorial (that's what you see from the motorway!) which has amazing views from the top. There are two excellent theatres in the city, both have extensive and varied programmes, the Grand being an eighteenth century gem.. Plenty of very good places to eat and drink, many of them close by..Can't wait for our next visit!
