Description: Are you looking for somewhere special to eat in Lancaster? Then you simply have to try the Wagon & Horses, for the last couple of years we have secretly been employing one of the best chefs in the area and creating a menu that will rival (and sometimes surpass) any other establishment in Lancaster. We know it's a cliché but we are the best kept culinary secret in the city. We take great pride in our customer service and make sure the standard of food we serve is always of the highest quality making us increasingly one of the most popular gastropubs to eat at. Wherever possible, we are committed to only buying from local suppliers whether it is Garstang Blue Cheese or Lewis's truly amazing Ice Cream, we truly celebrate and insist on giving our customers a true taste of as many delicious produce that Lancaster & Lancashire can offer. As you may or may not know, our Gastro pub reputation is growing rapidly every week and we are very proud to boast about the quality and freshness of our ingredients and we are delighted to announce the completion of our roof top herb and salad garden where we are growing not just our reputation but a vast array of yummy herb and salad to make our dishes incredibleWe want your dining experience at the Wagon & Horses to be a really special, a day to remember, so we are proud to offer a range of mouth-watering starters that include our legendary Asian Style Mussels & the unique experience of our Wagon & Horses Savoury Tart (it's got Black Pudding in you know). After the lip licking has finished you can then choose from two main menus, the first boasting such delights as roasted monkfish (yummy) and our much acclaimed herb Crusted Lamb Rack, once tried - never forgotten. The Classics menu conjures up somewhat more down to earth fayre such as Cumbrian Beef resident burger and (as our quote informs) possibly the best Beer Battered Fish & Chips in the UK. Both menus are bursting with local and seasonal flavours and all dietary requirements can be catered for with vegetarian options galore, we also provide gluten free options. Don't forget, if you are allergic to something or simply don't like one of the ingredients of a meal, we can cook it to your liking...just ask.

Visited the pub for lunch with Mum and sister. All spoilt for choice from the varied menu. The curried pork ribs with sweet potato fries were delicious, as was the fish and chips. Portions were generous, to say the least! Lovely atmosphere, with real fires and cosy seating area. Definitely a place to revisit!

This lovely pub is very friendly with good service and an interesting and varied menu. It’s in an excellent location, with the town centre within easy walking distance, yet quiet and facing the river. There’s parking at the back. We stayed with friends for two nights and the rooms were very clean and comfortable although are very small. The bedding and towels were all really good quality and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was very good and we ate dinner on each night as we were so impressed on the first night. The gluten free fish and chips was simply superb. A great variety of appetisers and starters and the belly pork with sesame ice cream starter was wonderful as was the pear tart. All three courses eaten by four people on two nights were very good. The staff were friendly and efficient and for value for money, it would be hard to find anywhere better.

A lovely place to eat or stay on the quayside in Lancaster. The Wagon and Horses is a ‘pub with rooms’ but what it delivers is far more than that: beautifully cooked, locally-sourced food served in comfortable and friendly surroundings, plus very good accommodation. My room (#2) was a rather cosy double but very comfortable and clean, and beautifully quiet. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, and work hard to make all their guests feel at home. I would thoroughly recommend the Wagon and Horses.

We’ve been here about once a month since we discovered the culinary delights of the Wagon and Horses.
Today did not disappoint.... we both had the pork belly, and it was delicious. My table manners were atrocious, because once all the food was chomped, I licked the plate with my finger because the gravy was so sublime!!!!
The staff as ever, were charming and friendly..... the ambiance of the place is relaxed, cosy but spacious too! Lovely wood burner, and the Sauvignon was delish!
A Lancaster jewel .

What a fabulous, spacious pub. Very clean, warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful and will not 'rip you off', they'll advise you on your choices and they don't like waste so will tell you not to order extra's, this is why I've been returning, they are honest. Their chefs are wonderful, food is plentyful, cooked to perfection and plenty of choice. I will be returning again, soon I hope :)
