“Functional and Friendly”

I agree with previous reviews, this hotel has all you need for basic accommodation when on a work trip. The staff is friendly & lovely, the outside bathroom is a bit run down but clean, the room and mattress are comfortable (I took the single, cheap option).
One thing, the room I got had very clear curtains so if you are sensitive to light, don't forget your eye mask.
The shower didn't have a very powerful water flow, so don't go washing long hair in a hurry!
You will leave the place in a good mood, and this is priceless.
It's on the left outside when leaving the train station's main entrance, on a slight slope so easy walk. Tons of cabs outside train station anyway.

Room Tip: - The room I was in was sunny, and not over the main road. Quiet. - My room (I wouldn't know ab...

We’ve stayed in this hotel on two previous occasions. It’s a very comfortable, spotlessly clean hotel managed by a very pleasant lady. At £59 bed and breakfast for a double room, this represents excellent value, and our breakfast was cooked freshly to order. We had a clean and cosy ensuite room, plenty of soft towels, a comfortable bed with crisp clean linen, lovely fluffy pillows and duvet and a great night’s sleep, with no noise to disturb us. Shops and restaurants up the town are a 10 minute walk away, so it’s in a great location. Would have no hesitation in recommending the Ashwood Hotel to anyone staying in Preston and will definitely stay there again for the comfort, value and excellent customer service.

This was a one night stay en route from south to north. It's only a few minutes from Preston rail station so very convenient if travelling that way, as I was. The room had an adjacent bathroom (but there are en suites at a little more if you want them). A comfortable night's sleep with lovely clean bed linen. Breakfast was included and despite the fact I had to leave long before the start time, they were still able to rustle me up something. Really good value at £30.

The Ashwood is easy to find from the railway station. Just go out of the main entrance, up to the main road and turn left, away from the shops. You'll pass the council offices on the short downhill walk.

My single room was fine, if small. Bathroom was clean and the pressure in the shower was good. The single bed felt slightly rickety, and I'm only of average weight. However, it was perfectly comfortable to sleep in. The decor was English boarding-house standard; not exactly fashionable or cutting-edge, but in no way offensive.

My one issue would be that my room, facing the road, was noisy in the evening due to traffic and loud pubbers and clubbers weaving their way home. I stayed on a Saturday night, so I would imagine this wouldn't be a problem during the week.

Breakfast was full English, plentiful and enjoyable. I sat down, running late as usual, worried that it would take some time to prepare and I'd miss my train, but it was put in front of me within 10 minutes. The staff in general were very cheerful and welcoming from check-in to check-out. I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the main road if staying over a weekend.
