“A real retreat and greta food”
Reviewed 31 January 2012

I have stayed here for weekends, spa retreats and used the dining facilites many times over the last 8 years.
The quality of service and attention to detail is first class. Rooms are very comfortable, with high quality bathrooms.
The Spa is very pleasant - though can become busy, which has in my experience led to refreshments and relaxing chairs running out. Pick a low demand day and you will have a greta experience, pick a busy day and you will feel a little crowded and rushed.
All of the meals I have taken here have been excellent. High quality produce is used and it shows.
As per the spa, with the current vogue to place tables close to one another you can end up virtually attached to the next diners.
You get what you pay for - this is a high quality venue - but chose you stay wisely to maxmise the experience.

“An expensive but lovely experience”
Reviewed 5 December 2011

Had afternoon tea here one Sunday. Wonderful service and excellent quality. Silver service all the way. Luckily we had a voucher for the experience because there is absolutely no way I'd pay the asking price for this experience even given the high quality, elegant and historical surroundings.

“Lovely staff”
Reviewed 27 February 2009

We didn't stay at the hotel but used the Spa and ate at the restaurant. Firstly, the staff were delightful - all very friendly and helpful, and a pleasure to deal with. The spa, clearly a fairly recent addition, was modern, clean, with good facilities, if a little small. It was a bit dark in the main pool room, but otherwise a lovely addition to what seems a very pleasant hotel. It was a shame that the steam rooms and saunas were single sex and in the changing rooms - my girlfriend and I spent half our afternoon sitting apart and on our own! It was raining when we were there, but that didn't stop us (and others) having a great time in the outdoor jacuzzi. The brasserie was very nice too. The setting would have suited better weather as the courtyard looked very appealing, and for the price, the food wasn't exceptional. However, it was still very good food, and overall we had an enjoyable afternoon. I would point out that we received the experience as a gift, and feel that prices are generally high for what you get (particularly for the spa treatments).
