I would just like to make people aware that we went here last week expecting to see this newly re-vamped canal/walk. We found Waitrose but the canal had barriers around it and there was so much work being done the other side of the bridge sadly there was nothing nice about the area. I think some people might have been a bit premature posting great reviews? I'm sure when all the work is done it will be lovely but at the moment dob't expect to see anything other than Diggers, Workmen, Murky water and Barriers?!!!

We took the 45 minute round canal trip on 'The Dragonfly' Wednesday morning. The boat left from the landing stage next to Waitrose in Wichelstow so a good place for coffee and cake afterwards! The canal boat can hold 12 people - there were 5 on the trip we took, other trips during the day were all fully booked. The two crew members were volunteers and were very helpful and informative about the boat and the canal restoration. Lovely wildlife - a heron followed the boat and it was amazing to see it up close. Duck food was available to feed ducks (50p) and children enjoyed this.

Waitrose is near the new part of the canal. Lovely sunsets occur there and the canal boat runs trips there. Children would enjoy the boat. Sunday's is a good day. The canal brings water to the much needed expansion of Swindon reuvinating the town. Waitrose is a supporting party in all that was built. The shop offers a cafe for refreshments and the seating is along side the canal where the Heron visits. Go see.

The canal is been rebuilt by a local trust. the walk is the route of the old canel. if you start off at wailtrose shop you can book a ride on the canel boat dragonfly. if you like walking the route take you from wailtrose shop into the swindon town centre up to fleming way and to the magic roundabout and just before the bus stop after the magic roundabout on fleming way it turn off and head off toward greenbridge.

We went on this on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and it was delightful.
Our son who is 7, throughly enjoyed it, he loved looking out for the wildlife as we went along. Was nice just to be sat listening to the guide tell you about the canal and bridges. Well worth the £5 per person and £2 for children.
Would recommend to anyone
