The park is easily accessible from the M4 motorway and all areas of Swindon. There is a free of charge small car park which is off Mead Way. There is a designated pathway that goes around the perimeter of the park which is perfect for a stroll or a walk with a dog. You can go off the pathway onto the open areas of grassland but it does get quite wet and muddy in the autumn and winter months. There are a few bench style seats around the park should you need a rest. Although there is not a cafe at the site there is a pub and a shop in close proximity and you are not far from a McDonalds drive through and also quite close to a Costa drive through.

Took a short morning visit this Sunday to visit Shaw Forrest Park in Swindon, which occupies the site of the old Shaw Farm Landfill in Swindon. It opened a couple of years ago, and is now maturing into a pleasant local parkland area, with views towards the town centre and old town.
The area had been designed to walk around (and over) small raised hillocks, with copious plantings of ash and willow woodlands with scrub land containing juniper and alder.
The vent stacks rom the old tip are still visible, but are designed to blend into the natural area.
There is limited seating - but enough if you should need a rest.
Free good sized car park - located behind the car dealership - but well signposted.
No toilets / burger vans / tourist trappings - so much the better.
One small thing - there are no rubbish bins (quite funny given the previous use of the site), so please take it home with you.
There is a bit of dog mess around - so please be careful.
Well done Swindon Council for redesigning the old rubbish dump into a wonderful free community space for everyone!
