Ok, so this place has its good point and then has some downfalls. We stayed here for 1 night on a Saturday.

Upon arrival it was nice to see the car park is locked between 11pm and 6am. Greated at reception by such a pleasant lady who clearly enjoys her job. Now, when we got the the room we were a little disappointed, we were in 222, this is on the 1st floor and overlooks the train station. The room was nothing like the ones pictured. It was very very small, very dated, threadbare carpet and old curtains. However, that said tho it was very clean. This must be one of the old rooms that's not been updated.

Service slow at the bar because the staff can't see you there. I did recommend a bell or cctv at the reception.

We went out for a meal and on our return we again met some wonderful staff who made our drinks in the bar very enjoyable.

Was noisy during the night from the street and station. Bed was very comfy, shower powerful and hot and soft towels.

Overall very pleased and would certainly return but I would request a refurbed room.

This hotel is in a very convenient location from city centre and right opposite train station. here is free parking for guests as well if you travel by car. We paid under £50 for a 1 night stay and weren't expecting much but were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is a mix of older grand style staircase and more modern reception and rooms. Our room (basic double) was comfortable and very clean. The bed was very comfortable but there was noise from outside which disturbed us a little during the night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would recommend a stay here, especially for the price.

If you are travelling by rail on a tight budget The Aston Court could be just for you. There is also free parking with gates that they lock overnight. But the interior is a higgledy-piggledy combination of tortuous access and tiny rooms. The restaurant is in what seems to be an odd space next to reception (I only had breakfast there, which was fine). The staff were run off their feet, holding down at least two jobs each. They were impressively effective, dealing equally well with European sales reps and street peeps wandering in (this is a very rough part of town). There are also a couple of decent ground-floor function rooms that can be accessed directly from the car park – but don’t expect a finger-buffet that Escoffier would rave about.

Room Tip: As for a room at the back of the hotel

Good atmosphere if you are looking for something else than scandinavian style. I like this hotel, price is more than acceptable if compared to quality of the service. Excellent location, near the city, 20 yards from the station, coaches and taxi within short walking distance.
