“A lovely cottage, well equipped & very friendly owners”
Reviewed 11 June 2016 for a stay in September 2015

I cannot recommend this cottage enough. We had a lovely holiday here with my little boy and my parents. The cottage was very well equipped & there was a very nice selection of toys already there which kept my little one happy whilst we unpacked and whenever we came back to the cottage. There was also a baby gate provided which really made it safe at the top of the stairs with a child and meant we could relax. The owners were lovely & very friendly & even brought the tractor over to show my boy which made his week. It was blissfully quiet & in lovely countryside. We experienced no problems with any noisy pipes or heating problems. It was lovely and warm & I had the best weeks sleep in 3 years there. The cottage is in a convenient location, peacefully out of any towns and in the countryside but also close enough to local places of interest by car. We made nice local trips to Knaresborough & enjoyed the crazy golf there. Skipton was also very nice with the canal and market. Harrogate is just beautiful & the National trust Fountains Abbey was one of the most impressive National trust locations I have visited. Would absolutely not hesitate to come back again with my husband. Many thanks to Michele and Andrew for making it such a relaxed stay for us.

“Lovely But Disappointing”

There is no doubt that this is a beautiful, spacious cottage. Recently refurbished and just open, we were one of the first guests to stay here. We were very impressed on arrival - the cottage has almost everything you could need and the owners provided a brand new highchair and travel cot for our baby. We were also grateful for the toys and games provided for our older child. The only things we missed was a CD player and DVD player in the main lounge. The little TV in the snug has an inbuilt DVD. There was an ipod docking station.

All the rooms are very generous and the views are spectacular. It is a rural location and quite exposed - it was very windy during our stay. There is also nothing within walking distance, but we found some lovely local villages - Birstwith has a lovely playground and weir! It is within easy reach of Harrogate and Pateley Bridge, which had all we needed.

However, the cottage still has some teething problems. The Wifi Internet was not available until the day before we left, and only runs at 1.5MB. This made it very difficult for my husband to monitor his work and send emails. There was also a lot of intermittant noise from the toilets and water pipes, at various volumes and often making 'clunking', 'thumping' and 'banging' noises throughout the evening and nighttime (not caused by turning a knob on one of the radiators). This made it near impossible to relax and difficult to sleep at times. We complained numerous times to the owners, but nothing was done and we felt our complaints were not taken seriously, even though they told us they'd had similar complaints from other guests. I hope this problem is sorted out soon as this place has the potential to be a great holiday cottage.
