Great location for walking. Beautiful river walk is perfect way to start a day or wind down in the evening. Went all the way into the centre of Ripon. Jane (the owner) could not be a better host. Fabulous warm welcome. Enjoyed days out at marvellous Brimham Rocks, Studley Royal (ask Jane about the Seven Bridges walk) and Fountains Abbey. Right on the Way of the Roses so will return to cycle.
Stayed in early May 16 for a birthday weekend away with my girlfriend. The accommodation was really spacious and top quality. Had everything we needed for a weekend away with the cycles. Really enjoyed the cycle from Bishop Monkton to Ripon and Fountains Abbey along the Way of the Roses. The countryside was lovely and Fountains Abbey impressive.
We really appreciated the bath after the cycle – many places don’t have baths nowadays, so it was a really nice addition. Neil’s Yard toiletries were an added bonus. The beds were super comfortable and we both slept really well. Having somewhere inside the accommodation that was safe and dry to store the bikes was a great idea.
We had a nice evening meal at the Crown Inn in the next village – Roecliffe. It was a recommendation from our host Jane – who also makes a great flapjack, which she left in the kitchen area for us to take on our cycle.
I enjoyed the cycle back to York on the Sunday along the Way of Roses, whilst my girlfriend took the easy way and drove!
Mill View Barns is not just for cyclists and would suit anyone wanting a quality night away in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
