This place is a bit of a hidden gem, even for locals. The place is very old and quaint, with nice grounds and pretty accessible by road or train. The staff are very good, polite and attentive, almost all foreign from various places which I see as a bonus as the level of service is better and it brings a bit of diversity to the middle England type customers. We came for Afternoon tea which was nice but weirdly this is the only afternoon tea we have ever been to which doesn’t offer refills, which seems pretty stingey. Most places offer afternoon tea and refill the sandwiches and cakes as most people can’t eat that much. But here you got the equivalent of a sandwich and a half per person and relatively too many scones and cakes. This seems to be a penny pinching policy which is counter productive as we wouldn’t go back for afternoon tea because of it. For 5 people it ended up being £85 Which feels like a bit of a rip off as we are in Ruislip not Mayfair.
Sandwiches were very nice, cakes looked nice but tasted average, tea a bit weak reallyMore
