“Lovely time at the farm - great for families”
Reviewed 21 April 2012

I believe we arrived the day ALE428 left. Brid greeted us with tea and cookies in the dining room, where my grandson (Andy, 19 months) had a fabulous time playing with the huge collection of toy farm equipment. He also had fun playing football (soccer) in the front yard with Brid and Jim boys, Sean and James. We arrived on Good Friday, so we went to the Rising Sun for dinner (enjoyable and met a friendly local gentleman there).

In the evening we chatted with Brid and got some tips for the next day while Andy was thoroughly entertained by James & Sean. After that, Sean filled my son in on the finer points of hurling. (and ask Brid about Camogie, she's a bit of a fan, as her wedding photo proves).

The ensuite rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. :)

The next morning, Jim invited us to watch the milking in the barn and showed us around. The dairy farm has been in his family for seven generations. The tour was followed by a great breakfast back at the house in the sunny dining room.

We're a family with two kids (5+8 years) from Germany and have just left Glenraha farm after 3 very pleasant days!
Our hosts Brid and Jim were very welcoming and cared dearly for us. In the mornings we were invited to see how they work with the cows (milking, feeding, calves), our sons were even allowed to help a little - they enjoyed it greatly! Breakfast was very good, too - especially Brid's selfmade bread!
For the day, we got some very good recommendations, what to do - we spent one day to visit Dunmore Caves and Kilkenny. The other day we went to Waterford Crystal and then to the coast.
In the evenings our sons played with the children of our hosts - they even picked up some English! We spent the evening in the guest room watching TV or talking to Brid or her daughter, who played irish tunes on a tin whistle for us. We learned a lot about Ireland and Irish farms these days!
Sadly, the local pub only serves sandwiches and soup in the evenings (Monday to Wednesday), so we preferred having dinner somewhere else.

Overall, we can definitively recommend this B&B and would like to return some day.

No trip in complete without a stay on an Irish working farm. Glenraha is ideal. Our hostess, Brid, has put much attention into every detail of her beautiful farmhouse, with bright cheery colors, large sunny breakfast room, tastefully decorated ensuite bedrooms. Everything was perfect for us. Mullinavat is a bit of a drive outside the city of Waterford, but well worth the effort. James, our host, is a dairy farmer and we were given the opportunity to watch the process of milking and to talk to James at length about farming in Ireland. We learned that today’s family farm takes a great skill as well as a keen knowledge of science to be successful. James is a 7th generation Fitzpatrick to farm here. Brid is a friendly hostess and a great cook & baker. If you’re as lucky as we were you may have the opportunity to hear their daughter, Deirdre, play a lovely Irish tune on the tin whistle. We’re planning on going back to Glenraha Farmhouse.

My granddaughter and I stayed 2 nights at Glenraha Farmhouse. The whole family went out of their way to help us with making plans and showing us their farm. The accommodations were splendid and the food was excellent. Wonderful people and plan to return.
