Rooms are pleasant, quite basic but clean and comfortable. The view from the front is beautiful - overlooking the impressive Diamond and the Rossmore Monument and if you are lucky you will get the Cathedral in your sights too.
The food is mid price range for example chicken curry €17....but with that you have a beautifully presented dish with a substantial portion of chicken curry & veg, a bucket of chunky fries, rice and naan bread. You will be left very satisfied.
The food can take a while to arrive so don't be in a hurry. At least you know it's being freshly prepared. It's very busy place most nights of the week from what I gather.
The staff are all friendly and helpful.
The location is ideal. Overall I was very happy.

I recently went to the Westenra for food with a friend & couldn't fault it! I got the sticky chicken tenders with a side of sweet potato fries followed by a slice of apple pie & I can honestly say it was delicious! My friend got the Caesar Salad & she thoroughly enjoyed it, followed by the Baked Alaska which she said was one of the best desserts she had ever gotten. The place was fairly busy but they were quick & our main server was a lovely young girl who was friendly & a delight! However, we noticed her manager had stopped her to sternly correct her on some things & we noticed this with other waiters & waitresses too, which we didn't feel was appropriate. Also, we had finished our food & a few minutes after our plates were lifted, we were sitting chatting & a different waitress threw down the bill & sweets on our table & abruptly said that they were doing the till. Feeling uncomfortable, we decided that was our queue to leave even though we had pondered on getting another drink or two after our food. Must've been a tough night for staff as the manager seemed stress as did this particular waitress, so it won't affect me going again as our young waitress & the food was honestly a delight! However, it should be noted that staff should be careful when they're under stress as to how the speak to customers as it can be off-putting!

Overall though Id recommend a visit to this hotel for food & drink, as a local or a visitor!

The food was lovely but the night was made more memorable because from the moment we entered the establishment until the time we left (very late) we were treated like special friends. We will be back here for another night the craic was mighty.

Checked in by a really nice and friendly member of staff , ate in the bar and the portions are huge , was frequented by a lot of people not staying at the hotel so it must be popular , bathroom was great , only let down was the bed was rather uncomfortable , could just do with some new mattresses , was very clean , breakfast was amazing so overall great value for money . Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Have a room facing the front to avoid the noise from the kitchen extractor fans
