Description: The charming restaurant on the first floor of No. 1 Pery Square is called Sash, referring to that most distinctive feature of these magnificent Georgian houses, the sash window. The name Sash is also, maybe, a nod to the dressing-up appeal of going out to dinner somewhere special! Step into this stylish space through a quirky sash window-shaped door, into a restaurant with views of the surrounding Georgian streetscape, a lovely room with a menu that is quietly confident and traditional, but with the same contemporary twist to be found throughout all of No. 1 Pery Square. Focusing on home cooking with an extra layer of sophistication, the menu at Sash is almost like country house food in the city - showcasing simple but elegant dishes, both classic and contemporary, using old-school, time-proven techniques. Ingredients used are local, seasonal, and reflective of a menu that would have been familiar in the house at the time it was built, recognisable to those original Georgians, with the addition of herbs and leaves grown in No. 1 Pery Square's own kitchen gardens where possible. Sash also has a carefully selected wine list featuring a collection of unique boutique producers & classic selections, ranging from casual wines for relaxed evenings, to rare and hard to find bottles. Sash reflects the attributes of its home in No. 1 Pery Square - being elegant, thoughtful, Irish, historic, with an extra layer of sophistication and character. Sash is a little beacon of old-fashioned conviviality - cosy, not grand, relaxed, not posh - and serving proper food to share and enjoy.

The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious and the staff could not have been more attentive and friendly.

Ate here when the Christmas Menu was available. Nice atmosphere with friendly waiter. Food was adequate but I wasn't blown away. We received a small tray of vegetables to share for two. Hardly enough for one.

Perry Square used to be the most amazing place, with a really excellent restaurant. The food was always impressive, the atmosphere more so.
I cannot say the same about Sash.
We were there for a Christmas dinner. It felt hurried from the start.
Some of our group arrived slightly later, and weren't supplied with menus until it was nearly time to order.
The wine order was not taken before the dinner order, even though I asked the waiter(who had started taking to dinner orders) to take the wine order first, so people would not be sitting at dinner without drinks.
He took the wine order, and then continued to take the dinner orders, leaving everyone sitting there with empty wine glasses. A bad start to the experience.
He also took the desert order at the same time as the dinner order, which was clearly to facilitate the restaurant's kitchen, and not the diners. I would suggest to Sash management, that this is poor practice. What reasonable restaurant would do this? Let me answer this rhetorical question: Surprisingly few, in my experience.
The food was fine, apart from the goose, which was tough and a little tasteless, and the cheese plate, which had a soft cheese, and some very bland blue cheese. The beef was good, as was the fish.

At the end of the dinner, we were then over charged by TEN meals, or not far off 500 euros extra. My colleague noticed this , and went to get it corrected. There was then some argument at the till about whether there should be 2 glasses of desert wine on the bill or not, the waitress insisting that there should be.
She was correct, there indeed were two glasses of desert wine owed for. However, at this stage, given that they had actually overcharged us by ten meals, if I had been the restaurant host, I think I would have just apologised for the error in the initial bill, and left it at that.
The evening was not particularly cheap, working out at over 90€ a head. For that, I expect good food, and good service. They fell far short of the mark.
The whole thing left a very unfavourable impression about Sash, and I would neither recommend it, or return.

We had a lovely meal here. I was not too keen on the starter of honey and parsnip soup. Sadly we received no bread ( and in my case I was promised gluten free bread) but we didn't make a fuss. We had already had to ask for clean glasses as they were all dirty. The mains and dessert were nice. The staff were all lovely, good humoured and friendly but seemed rushed off their feet. It was good value.

Beautiful setting for a scrumptious festive afternoon tea. Service was so welcoming and friendly and we really were made feel special. The range of sweet and savoury treats really did showcase the best of local produce. Would make you proud to be a Limerick native! Blessed to have this fine establishment on our door step. A wonderful treat for all the senses.
