Stayed here with family for a Saturday. Check in was prompt and friendly. Room was spacious and clean. Nice bathroom.
Good service in the bar but the Guinness was poor - the 4 Guinness drinkers amongst us changed to other drinks after the first pint.
Dinner in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. We waited for ages for a starter which was barely visible on the plate and waited over 2 hours for our main course. Apparently, having asked a number of times what the delay was, we were told that the order had not been given to the kitchen. We were served mashed potato as an side order with no vegetables. At this stage the dining room was busy but was quite empty when we first arrived in.
Judging by the bar receipt the hotel appears to be in receivership - this may account for the terrible service.
Have stayed here before and given a good rating but this was just terrible - not even 3 star in the restaurant.
Breakfast was nice and service was excellent !!

What an amazing service, choice of wine picked by restaurant manager was really good. Made our family day very special and welcome, food was five star. Salmon for starter is must try, daughter was very happy with her food.
Definitely will be back, thank you.

I dont know were to start - wish i could give them a 10 on a 5 star review. My son and new bride selected Lyrath for their destination wedding / reception and strictly done online without visiting first - let me tell you it turned out to be a magical experience. All we can compare it to is like having a wedding on Downton Abbey. The facility, staff, location, food, drinks, hospitality exceeded anything you could even imagine as the "perfect" wedding location and our expectations. The Spa - Pool and Grounds were all over the top as well and all very clean and welcoming. The memories we have taken away from this experience will be life long for everyone who attended. This reinforces the image of Ireland as being a warm and welcoming country. We would highly recommend this location for an event - we also had the opportunity to visit the Kilkenny Castle in town which is a must see and only minutes from the Lyrath. I should also mention Paris Texas Bar/Smokehouse in town to visit for drinks and food. We want to say a Simple "Thank You" to the Lyrath for such a superb memory you have allowed us to experience at your wonderful facility.

Room Tip: All the rooms were great - we liked the first floor with the patio.

We stayed at lyrath estate in mid February for a much needed mini break . We were excited and expected great things, however we ended up terribly disappointed.
When we arrived at about 3pm we noted unfinished breakfast trays all along the corridor on the way to our room. The smell of cold Irish breakfasts did not immediately cause alarm and I was certain that after we had visited the swimming pool these breakfast trays would be removed. Unfortunately, on our return at nearly 6 pm we found to our disgust that all the breakfast trays were still lining the corridor to our room. Not good.
We decided to book a table in the Asian restaurant (Yindies)in the hotel to try and relax and enjoy our stay. What ensued was a customer service shambles. We were practically ignored from the moment we arrived to the moment I decided to complain to the duty manager after waiting for one hour for our main courses to arrive. I would not normally complain to management but the service was of such a poor standard it was nearly my duty to let the hotel know. Apparently, they were short of staff in the restaurant and everywhere else in the hotel as far as I could see. It was clear to me the blame lies with the management on this occasion for cutting corners with staff and quality of service. If it is not rectified they will lose return custom.
We also tried the afternoon tea experience and again we were left sitting with no staff in sight until we eventually walked to reception to query if someone could come and look after our order. Again extremely poor from a 5 star hotel.
We left the hotel after a discussion with a manager who apologised and gave us a discount on our room rate. This was appreciated but we would much prefer to pay full rate and have a pleasurable experience . I would advise they look at The heritage Killenard as a blueprint for excellence in customer service as well as 5 star luxury.

First of all, it's in a magnificient location, really quiet and, though not very far off the road, it really feels like you are in a remote place. We did a bit of walking and you can also use a complimentary bike.
I was very surprised by the amount of people working there and you're never short of people to ask help too.
The room we had was a very good size, great bathroom with a large bath and a walk in shower. The view is really nice too and it makes you feel like you're on your own .
There is a couple of restaurants, we went to Yindees, and again where you are sitting really compliments the experience a lot : we were overlooking the main hall, which as high as a church roof basically, and a young lad was playing a piano...hearing the sound of the piano with a good acoustic was phenomenal ! Back to Yindees, I didn't find it spectacular food wise, just a good take-away food, but the service was top class.
Also the pool area, which has a open view, hot water and overlooks the park is worth to experience.
Overall, very happy with the stay, would definitely recommend and will come back one day.
