“Nice hotel, but with some rough edges”
Reviewed 26 January 2012

We stayed at the Newpark Hotel for one night as part of a longer trip. The location is good and handy for the city centre. The hotel itself is nice, the reception and bar areas were well presented and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Our room was very spacious and looked nice on first inspection, but I did notice some rough edges later - screws that once held something, but were now left sticking out of the wall, a dirty fan in the bathroom and one of the sockets wasn't affixed properly to the wall. All small things and nothing that would really decrease your enjoyment of the room (unless you're quite uptight) but still I would have expected better.

From the time we decided to book this venue for my daughters wedding, we were treated so well. Having a Christmas wedding in the family was always a dream of mine. Dec. 29th 2011 in the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny John Flynn, Yvonne and all the staff really came up trumps. The wedding day was out on its own from arrival at the hotel until we departed next day. Attention to detail was above and beyond call of duty!! Our guests had nothing but praise and described the whole event as a fantastic experience. Take a bow Newpark Hotel!!

We spent the weekend just gone in the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny. We got a great deal to stay 2 nights b&b with one evening meal and the 3rd night stay for free.
The hotel is lovely, extremely clean, well maintained and modern with an old world feel to it. The room was lovely, warm, with a very comfortable bed. We were upgraded to a superior room on check in. Lovely large bathroom, ony issue is that there is no shower door so floor very wet after having a shower.
Hotel was lovely and quiet. They have a lovely leisure centre where we spent a good chunk of Sunday afternoon checking out. Their spa is on the more expensive side so decided not to go for any treatments. Plenty of parking and there was a great choice on offer for breakfast. We ate dinner on the Saturday night in the hotel and while mine was lovely (nothing special though) my partner's main meal was not good. Wine choices were also very poor. Service was good though, lovely friendly waitress. Small annoying point, we were listening to music that was being piped in from a radio in the dining room. it was obviously a Jazz internet radio station which was lovely but every so often advertisments for products and services in the US would come on which sort of ruined the lovely relaxed atmosphere that the hotel were trying to create.
It is a stroll away from down town kilkenny. We would definitely return here if the right deal was on offer.

Stayed here in oct 2011 with hubby, hotel was ok,clean & friendly but a bit dated. We had dinner in restaurant one evening & food was nice. It says on website about ten minute walk from city centre but theres no way any women would walk it in boots or shoes but taxi was cheap & easy to get!

Stayed recently one night prior to a business day and found staff very helpful and fiendly and hotel generally welcoming Bedroom was in older part of hotel but clean and spacious and everything worked Swimming pool facility well used and quite crowded for late saturday Dined in bar/bistro good choice of small/large plates which is helpful and nice atmosphere too but food a little disappointing for the price Overall would recommend and will go back myself but perhaps accomodation and food prices on the high side in these times
