“Great base for exploring SW Ireland”

Beautiful home, immaculately presented in a secluded location on the edge of Killarney National Park . Made a great base for exploring the scenic south west of Ireland. No more than a 5 min drive to Killarney town center or Muckcross Park, with plenty to do in the area, lots of eating out options and a short drive to larger supermarket and shops if needed. Highly recommended. Thanks to Fiona for being so easy to deal with when making arrangements.

“Best 40th birthday celebration ever!”
Reviewed 1 October 2016 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed here in June 2014 and our stay was absolutely amazing. Beautiful clean home, huge well kept back yard, and super friendly owners. We were celebrating my 40th with extended family, and we all loved it. Close to town but secluded enough to see cows crossing the road. Can't wait to go back!!

“Beautiful Killarney”
Reviewed 9 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Our group comprised of 4, related, families with age group ranging from mid 70's to 5 years old. We could not have chosen a better place to stay than Scartlea House ensuring everyone, within such a diverse age group, would have a 'fantastic' holiday. The house was in quite excellent condition, as promised on the website, very comfortable beds, good sized bathrooms, lots of fluffy towels, piped music throughout the house and a great 'cinema' room. A great DVD collection enabled me to, once more, laugh outrageously at Fawlty Towers! There is a, beautiful garden that allowed the 'kids' room to, safely, run about or play on the swings and see saw, a patio that encouraged lazy evenings with a glass of wine, a barbecue for outdoor eating, a fire pit for toasting marshmallows(we managed to do this twice) and plenty of areas for some quiet time on your own. With a group of ten I wondered how we would cope in the kitchen when making and eating meals but with such a large range with four ovens, a small breakfast bar and 'farmhouse' size dining table it was no problem.

Our week in Killarney coincided with some of the best weather that the area had enjoyed in many years. Our group comprised of people who had lived and travelled to many parts of the world but without exception all thought that Killarney was one of the most beautiful parts of the world they had ever visited. The scenery is breathtaking, the people, very friendly and helpful, some excellent restaurants/pubs with a great choice of food. If you enjoy seafood you are going to be spoiled! Go on a boat trip on one of the lakes as it is an ideal way to enjoy the glorious views. Take a walk through the grounds of Muckross House and you will find a little cove with a wonderful beach with safe wading and/or swimming for the kids.

We were there for only one week but a month would have been too short to see and enjoy this wonderful part of the world. Scartlea House was the icing on the cake for this holiday!

“Superb house and garden in excellent location!!”
Reviewed 2 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We were a mixed-age group of 11 adults and the house was just perfect for us in every way. The living spaces were amazing but we seemed to spend most of the time in the kitchen / diner. The bedrooms and bathrooms were suitable for our needs. We used the fire pit to full advantage and it appealed to the child in all of us!!
The location was great - we walked in the park, golfed at Beaufort, went horse riding in the hills and kayaked on the lakes. We enjoyed excellent weather which is always a bonus, and we would return in a heartbeat!
