“Clean, comfortable and a great welcome”

We stayed 3 nights in the Gap of Dunloe Suite, Chrissie made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and the suite is as good as the pictures and previous reviews.

The location of this cottage for exploring the Gap of Dunloe cannot be understated, it's a 5 minute walk to Kate's Cottage where you can organise pony and trap rides, boat trips and return bus journeys. We walked the Gap of Dunloe and caught a cart ride home, the scenery is breathtaking even in poor weather.

The suite has shared use of a washer and separate dryer, very handy when you arrive home in wet clothes. The power showers within the suite were also a welcome relief and always supplied with piping hot water. We stayed with our 10 month old son and would note for other travellers that there isn't a bath in this suite, we made do with a washing up bowl and it wasn't a problem for us. The suite has a fully equipped kitchen but no microwave, we managed just fine as we had sterilising tablets for the baby bottles.

In good weather travellers can sit outside the rear of the suite in a semi private seating area set aside for the suite, parking is also plentiful and secure with good outside lighting.

The towels and sheets were very white and very fluffy, the bed was one of the most comfortable we have stayed in beside our own!

“Good location, large size, good amenities”

Right in the Gap of Dunloe and walking distance to the pub. Good kitchenette, but no shopping close by so bring your own supplies. Quiet and modern. Laundry facilities. Responsive host.

“Lovely little apartment in a quiet and pretty setting”
Reviewed 10 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We enjoyed a couple of nights at the Buglers Cottage, Gap of Dunlop suite with our two children. The suite has everything you need, comfortable beds, modern decor, just enough space, remarkably 2 bathrooms with super soft towels (maybe too soft!), and an adequate kitchenette with hot plates, fridge, pots and crockery for basic meals and breakfasts.

Finding the cottage is a little tricky, but best thing to do is head for Kate Kearney's Cottage (which is actually a pub/hotel!) in the Gap, and it's on the same road not far away at all (indeed, an easy walk for a convenient and pleasant pub meal and live music some nights).

It was a good base to explore the Dingle Peninsula (just a pity about the weather!). We Drove from Cork via the Wild Atlantic Way to the Gap on our first day, then did Dingle and did a lovely walk to and around the waterfall in Killarney National Park on our way back on the 3rd day (don't stop at the waterfall, allow for the extra 45 minutes and walk up the steps to enjoy the beautiful views and forest - it's a little steep for the first third, but worth the effort).

We were in town on the weekend of a car rally, which we were told would be noisy, but we weren't too affected by noise (perhaps the cottage is super sound proofed!). The only hassle the rally meant to us was that we didn't anticipate the crowds in Killarney itself over the weekend, so ended up not spending any time in town.

Note, the rooms do have double beds only (not twin) so that might be an issue for some families/travellers. We were able to make it work! The hot water also takes a little while to come through so be patient! Also, the kitchenette could do with a fry pan, or just plan to cook soups and pastas for dinners!

The lovely caretaker was friendly and helpful with local advice, and kindly posted a forgotten item back to me without any hint of hassle. Exceptional service!

Thankyou for your review. Unfortunately the rally is noisy, you were lucky it didn't affect you too much. I didn't realize their wasnt a frying pan in the kitchen, I'll get one bought right away.

Kind regards
Julie

“Great Place to be in”

We had a wonderful 5 days stay here. The place has been nicely refurbished and we had our own private living/dining area with a small kitchen to cook our food. Our rooms were nice and cosy with a nice firm mattress for a good nights sleep. The surrounding area was
fantastic. Every monring we were greated with the beautfiul voices of birds singing and a must for us is our daily morning walk towards Kate Kearney's cottage.
The area is filled with mountain walks for the adventurous walker and one will not be disappointed, especially the GAP of DUNLOE. The road up/down the Gap of Dunloe is not to be missed. The scenery is spectacular.
Julie our host for the cottage is a great help to us. In the evenings we had a great cup of Irish coffee at Kate Kearneys and along with it, live Irish music with tap dancing helps to complete the day for us.
A great place to be stationed to explore RIng of Kerry.
