Description: Set above Bricín Shop, Bricín Restaurant and Boxty House is a well known name on the lips of many people. Opened in November 1991, its popularity is down to the fine food produced by Owner/Chef Paddy McGuire and by the warmth of welcome and hospitality shown front of house by Owner Johnny McGuire. Between them they have an exceptional product that has been 21 years plus in the making.

We visited Killarney this weekend and tried the Bricin. Excellent varied menu, we tried the bruschetta and fish cakes for starters which were both superb, followed by the scallops and beef, the garlic potatoes were so light and delicious. The beef was perfectly cooked. Brilliant and very attentive service. Couldn't ask for better!

Bricin is a cozy little restaurant that exudes great hospitality. The servers all seem to manage efficiency and cheerful friendliness to perfection. Adding the deliciousness of the food no one will be disappointed to visit this moderately priced restaurant in Killarney. I highly recommend their boxtys.

We visit Ireland several times a year, but instead of eating in the hotel, decided we would try a Restaurant in Killarney Town. Being November, we were finding it increasingly difficult to find places that were open. Thankfully the Bricin was, having said that, during peak season with everything open, I think we would choose this place again. The food was fantastic, the Owner and staff extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble. There was a great buzz about the place, we got talking to a couple on an adjacent table, and the evening just flew by. The Bricin is right in the heart of Killarney Town, an obvious favourite with the locals, and there is a car park just at the end of the street.

Three of us went to the Bricin Restaurant on Saturday and it was a lovely evening. We had a reservation (thank goodness, otherwise eating there wasn't an option) and very soon we were brought to our table. Food was very good, well presented, good flavours, and served by a friendly group of staff. If there was any shortcoming, it is that I had the Salmon and Hake fishcakes to start and their temperature was cooler than I would have liked. Not cold, or close, but could have done with a few more degrees! However, in the context of the whole evening, it is a small complaint and perhaps, a minor slip from the kitchen on a busy Saturday night.

One of my companions for the meal had the boxty with chicken; she loved it, and the other, the pork apricot, which he said was delicious. I had the duck breast and again, very good, pink and crispy skin. Plenty of lovely fresh vegatables and colcannon potato.

The wine list isn't very big but a nice selection. We had the Ribbonwood (New Zealand) Pinot Noir and it accompanied the meal really well.

Would I go back; yes! The price was reasonable for the food served. There was a nice, healthy, but not noisy, buzz and atmosphere in the restaurant and other than trying to figure out why there were so many people (tourists?) in Killarney on a late November Saturday ...

Well worth a visit.
