Our room was one of the nice garden rooms which had a porch on the gardens. Smelled a bit musty, but the room was very comfortable and the bath was very nice. The restaurant was wonderful for breakfast. The bar had wonderful sandwiches for late afternoon check-in. There was a fabulous wedding there at the time, the hotel was full of celebrating people. A lot of tour groups stay there and they time the breakfasts in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the garden rooms.

Stayed here as we were attending a wedding nearby. Lovely clean hotel & spacious room & spotless en-suite. Didn't get to spend much time in this hotel as we were attending a wedding elsewhere but will definitely returning.. less than 10 min walk from salthill. Lovely setting around the hotel.. very short taxi spin to the city which cost €10 which is perfect but bus spot just outside the gate if u prefer the bus

Nice size, quiet room. We were at the end of the hallway, which is a bit of a maze to find, but so worth it. We opened our window and it was quiet outside and inside. The room was comfort and clean, and I probably had my best night of sleep here. The bartenders were so great and knowledgeable and we had a fun time in the bar. The young girls in the restaurant, Marianna and Shauna?, were so sweet and helpful. The older servers and the host were grumpy and rude. The food was good, but we would probably eat elsewhere or at the bar to avoid them.

My wife and I stayed here with some friends on a tour of Ireland.

On arrival we were all highly impressed with the look of the place. The original impression faded with the front desk, the lady helping us couldn't have tried harder to not be pleasant. How about a smile and a few welcoming words instead of making me feel like I am interrupting your phone call to a friend.

Our room was very old and dated, the bed was small and not very comfortable, it all seemed like it was out of the mid 80's. My wife loved the pillows. Our friends rooms were on the 4th floor and had been newly updated with king beds and new decorations, so maybe they are all being done up and we just drew the short straw.

Bathroom was clean, the shower had great water pressure and the single bed was a convenient bag storage area.

We all convened in the pub in the lobby for drinks and food. The servers, like all staff we met, weren't very personable. They did there job but it seemed like there weren't enough of them. Our main guy was rushing around constantly and barely had time to take orders before running off again. Drinks were good, they had a large selection of gins, whiskeys, ciders and anything else you could want. The food was tasty, but there was mountains of it. Each dish came with 2 additional sides that should have been a meal of its own. Be aware when ordering, we ate until bursting and still sent back half the food served. Share your entrees with a couple friends.

I will give loads of credit to the pool, jacuzzi, sauna steam room complex. A great way to relax after a day cycling around Inis Mor, and highly recommended. It takes a couple minutes to find but is well worth the visit.

So overall, the stay was okay. Update the rooms to a more contemporary style, train the staff to be more pleasant, decrease food serving sizes and this place could be great.

Dear Mike T,

Thank you for your very constructive review of The Ardilaun on your visit here. We appreciate the feedback on all aspectes of your trip and have passed o your comments to all staff concerned. Where necessary retraining will take place. We apologise for any lack of courtesy you encountered on check in. It is very unusual for us to get comments like this as our front desk staff are highly trained and renowned for their customer service skills. However that is no excuse for poor service and we are sorry you were inconvenienced. Thank you for all your very positive feedback regarding food, staff and leisure facilities.

Kind regards,

This property, located in basically a residential section in Galway is convenient to many activities, beautifully decorated and maintained with a caring, helpful and professional staff. Our rooms were perfect and made our family vacation (3 generations) quite enjoyable. We had a few meals in the Bistro during our stay and the food was excellent, the service was attentive, and the overall value was delightful. The hotel, the grounds, the furnishings and the service was 5 star all the way. We would highly recommend this hotel to any and all.

Room Tip: suites and family rooms are very nice and affordable
