Myself and husband had dinnner in the Bistro recently. It's clearly very popular with tourists as we were the only Irish couple in the bistro. First of all the wrong drink was brought from the bar. My starter was bruschetta priced at €7.50..no taste and not proper bruschetta. We had to ask for bread as the table beside us was served bread. We got a much smaller amount. My main course was fish and was pricy..just under €25..a few pieces of chopped fish on greasy potatoes n minimal veg soaked in grease also. My husband's supposedly Featherblade beef was not what he expected..very disappointing overall. A glass of pretty average wine was €7.
We had to ask for it twice as waitress forgot. We had to ask for our bill twice as they also forgot us again. As we were paying the waitress asked us if we wanted to give a tip..for that service and poor quality food? Also, it's not the done thing in Ireland to suggest a tip.
I could feel the refusal of a tip wasn't appreciated.
Seriously avoid this Bistro as it's an overpriced tourist trap with below average food and service.

Still in Galway . Went to The Kings head for a drink and stayed for dinner. A lovely old world pub full of character . An open fire as we entered the bar was very welcoming on a cold rainy evening. The aroma of food enticed us to try the Bistro. Staff very friendly . Quick service and good value for money.

Cozy interior and great food. We had chips (fries) and bruschetta for appetizers and both were outstanding. We each had the vegetable soup with Irish brown bread and they were fantastic and hit the spot on a cold rainy night. Irish vegetable soup comes in many forms and this one was chunks of vegetables in a broth. The seasoning was perfect. Our waitress provided good service and was helpful with directions to a place we were going next. I highly recommend this place if in Galway!
