Stayed here from 13 - 15 June, 9 of us all together. What a fantastic, friendly little hotel, within 5 min s walk to Galway Centre, excellent quality breakfast every morning with endless coffee and toast as well as full irish fry up, cereal and fruit.
I have never met a more friendly and funny bunch of people, who would do anything for you!. Galway is a fantastic little town, full of pubs, bars and restaurants, some fantastic entertainment and the most friendliest people in the world! wouldn't hesitate to go back and stay at Wards Hotel.

Room Tip: Any rooms are good!

This place was the most horrible dirty smelly hole I have ever been to.

Most unwelcoming staff and the place was so outdated. The TV was fuzzy and barely worked and the wifi was rubbish.

Couldn't have the curtains open as the people out having a smoke from the pub could see in.

Dirt

This hotel was perfect for our needs, when going to a friend's wedding in Galway. Okay, the rooms are small and simple, but the hotel is good value for Galway. The staff were very friendly and welcoming to quite a large group of wedding guests, and the hotel has a great bar that serves fantastic Guinness well into the night. These things are important. The included breakfasts were textbook cooked Irish Breakfast with both black and white pudding, endless coffee, and the morning newspapers. Other options are available for people not wanting to eat a fry up every morning. I had 4 in a row... Yes! Got to watch the Lions win vs Australia in the bar with great atmosphere and friendly punters. One of the girls in the Hotel ironed our shirts for the wedding too, without even needing to be asked. There is WiFi and some parking at the front and the back. Manager and staff were lovely, with a great sense of humour, even when confronted with late night wedding stragglers talking about marmalade jars.

Room Tip: Some rooms don't have en-suite bathrooms. Ask for one that has.

Stayed here for one night while touring the west of Ireland. The room was tired and shabby. The bedding didn't fit the bed and the mattress was starting to unthread. The best was yet to come, when I went to use the ensuite bathroom, I was hit with the smell of stale urine. It was overpowering and sickening. I couldn't wait to check out the next morning. The breakfast however was nice, tasty and served promptly. The staff were friendly, it's just a shame the room and bathroom were such a let down.

good small hotel with a bar on the ground floor; parking is at the back and the location is very convenient to Galway city centre; easy enough to find by following the signs for Salthill as you approach Galway

Room Tip: if you need to have parking and be very near Galway city it is a good choice; bar on ground floor
