We were very pleased with the house. It is spacious and had everything we needed. The owner had converted it back into a house from flats, and it is obvious how much care has gone into doing so - there are lots of original features and it has a lot of character. The weather was very hot while we were there, so having a private back garden was a real bonus. We did use the local buses, but mostly walked from the house into the central area. The owner met us when we arrived and was very helpful. He had offered to answer any queries in advance of us arriving, and was contactable if needed. We would stay in this house again.
First the positives and there are many.
John the owner met us as the flat and walked us through all the features of the what was there and available. I truly appreciate his time to meet us and explain how everything works. There were only two of us staying there and it served as our base location while we traveled to other venues.
The Beds, the Wi-Fi, and and the coffee pot worked fine. It has a normal size American size refrigerator.
The reasons why I rated it as a 3: The kitchen was not dirty but someone made something that had grease all around the stove. In short the kitchen needs to be cleaned. There was grease films on all the items on the counter. We never opened the oven but the microwave was greasy as well. In all fairness to John we did not have any plans to cook.
I was surprised by the "tenement housing buildings" within around the block Google Earth it will help provide better clarity as you walk to venues close by. I don't mind people asking for money and no one was rude when we refused.
Finally the stairs, The flat is on three levels and there is one step you can take without making enough noise to disturb anyone sleeping. First day it seemed charming but it really got on nerves.

Perfect location to stay for your visit to Dublin. We stayed there with 2 daughters and the boyfriends. We spot Dublin by daylicht and the girls/boys are looking for the best pub in the City. About 10 min by feet to O'Connolystreet. It is also easy to take the bus or train to discover south-dublin. We will say thxs John (owner) and when we come back to Dublin, we shall phone you for another stay. Old house, when you suspect luxery, then you must look further. House has everthing that a comfort stay requires.
Dublin is a fun city and the property was 10- 15 mins from everything.
We would recommend both the property and the host John. Both warm and welcoming.
