Description: Since 1999, the iconic ely wine bar has paved the way for engaging, rewarding and fantastic value wines in Dublin. Not only characterised by its extensive list of 100 wines by the glass, 400 by the bottle, it's also loved for its melt-in-the-mouth organic beef, organic pork and "Craggy Island" lamb - sourced through ely's organic family farm in The Burren, Co. Clare.

Amazing, amazing dinner here. Outstanding and professional service as well and a very nice, buzzy and comfortable dining room, this place has it all. My scallops starter was good, nothing special but pretty good nonetheless. However, for mains we shared the special lamb dish which, quite honestly, was one of the best I've ever had. The dish consisted of lamb four different ways - as deep fried croquettes, medallions, rack and in shepherd's pie, each better than the other. We devoured it along with an excellent New Zealand Pinot Noir that was on the expensive side but was an essential and perfect accompaniment to the lamb. A special shout-out to the baked potato with anchovies side dish which, at first glance, seems off but complemented the lamb exceptionally. Plenty of oohing and aahing would have been heard from our table. My first time in this long-standing eatery, it will not be my last.

We had a large group of eight colleagues here for dinner, and we had a fabulous time. First of all, it is a beautiful little restaurant hidden away from the mainstream, yet just a block and a half from the Shelbourne Hotel where we were staying. Great ambiance, great vibe, and really comfortable. Amazing wine list, and some great specials. Everything we tried was great. A few stand outs were the buratta starter, the mackerel starter, the rib eye (cooked perfectly and very tasty), the cod special was a big hit as was the gnocchi. We had a lot of wine, we ate a lot, we laughed a lot, and a great time was had by all. I would go back in an instance.

Three of us dropped in for lunch to the Ely Wine Bar. Of the three one was already familiar with it and so we went on her usually accurate recommendation. I had a perfectly cooked "fish of the day" whilst the others had Tomato soup and Ceasar Salad. All were greatly enjoyed as were the glasses of Reisling that we had to accompany them. We forewent the delicious sounding desserts in favour of a glass each of Prosecco. The service was good humoured and friendly which always adds to the experience. We'll go again.

I really enjoyed my first visit. We dined near the window. Next time I would like to sit downstairs. Our server was great and really knew his business. The food here is first class. The location in Ely Place is perfect. Booking necessary at the end of the week. I am looking forward to my next visit.
