It’s been many years since I was last in La Cave and we decided on here for a meal before going to a show in the Gaiety.
We arrived at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon & there were a few people enjoying wine at the bar. All the tables were free & although we had no reservation, we were shown to a table that was needed back by 6:45, leaving us plenty of time to relax & enjoy our meal.
There were 3 menus on offer - early bird, table d’hôte & a la cart, all offering excellent choices. We opted for the table d’hôte menu, starting with a baked goats cheese with walnuts & apple which was mouthwatering!! I had the Ravioli with spinach & mushrooms for mains which was cooked to perfection. My husband had the braised lamb shank which tasted great but unfortunately was stone cold at the centre. We brought this to the attention of our server & it was changed for a fresh one. My husband finished off with the pear & apple tart tartin. They offer several types of wine by the glass & I chose the Malbec.
The staff were friendly and lovely candlelight, soft lighting & French music playing softly led to a beautiful atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!
