Every time I visit Dublin, this is my first choice for a place to stay. It has a great central location for sights, shopping, pubs, everything to do in Dublin. Making it even better, Sally is wonderful to deal with and always so helpful.
Through an unobtrusive glass door between shops, you step onto Grafton Street - the retail spine of Dublin - across from Trinity College. Downtown Dublin is very walkable, and this apartment is central to everything. Grafton Street itself becomes a pedestrian mall one block south of the apartment. Temple Bar, St. Stephen's Green, the O'Connell Bridge are all easy walks. This is a great location for first-time tourists to Dublin, like us, who want to sample the city's highlights - and for repeat visitors who want to be in the heart of it all.
The apartment itself is on the European first floor (second floor for Americans), but well above the street and private because it faces trees of the Trinity College campus. Street noise is present but muted, and not unpleasant. The bedrooms and kitchen are in the back and are absolutely quiet. There is a full kitchen, including washer/dryer. The master bedroom is good sized with its own bath. The king bed can be divided into twins. The second bedroom is small with a double bed - close quarters if you are a couple, but doable. There is a small bath with a shower stall for the second bedroom.
In terms of logistics, Marks and Spencer is two blocks away where you can stock up on groceries and wine (and buy a coat while you're at it). Around the corner is Avoca with prepared foods and pastries. Numerous restaurants and pubs are close by. Next door is the Aran Sweater Market. Yes, it's targeted to tourists - otherwise it would be the "Aran Jumper Market." But the sweaters are wonderful and the prices are reasonable.
Sally is a great owner. She was a pleasure to work with in coordinating our arrival. She worked us through some unplanned emergency utility construction at our doorstep with full information and good advice. She is also very knowledgeable about Dublin and all it has to offer.
I stayed for two nights with my family of 5 and we had a great time. You can't get any better and more central spot in Dublin since we only had to leave the apartment to be on Grafton Street. Supermarkets, Shops, Restaurants and more were around closely.
The apartment had a huge livingroom, very comfortable bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. The wifi access was good in all parts of the apartment. We'll definitely come back!
We booked for 8 days for a family of four. We were told that the apartment had 2 bedrooms (1 with two twin beds) and 2 full baths. When we arrived we found a pull out bed in the living room as there was only one double bed in each bedroom. Couldn't even open the doors to the wardrobe in one bedroom due to lack of space. The other had a strange door that opened onto a drop of 3 stories (very dangerous) leading to nowhere. The 2nd bathroom was what they called "a washroom" (after we complained) with a shower head sticking out of the wall next to the sink. Not what we were expecting at all!
We loved staying here. The apartment is fabulous, clean and comfy and has everything you need. It is large and airy and in a great location. Close to the shops / bars / supermarkets / bus stops / taxi ranks etc.
The large windows in the lounge were perfect for people watching the world go by on Grafton St!
Sally was very helpful in helping us to locate the door to the apartment when we arrived later than expected on the Friday night.
We will be back as we want to stay there for longer!
