Owner description: Christ Church Cathedral is one of Dublin's oldest buildings, a leading visitor attraction and a place of pilgrimage for almost 1,000 years. Famous for its breathtaking beauty, magnificent architectural features and wonderful floor tiles, Christ Church is also popular as a venue and is host to many high profile concerts throughout the year. It is home to the tomb of Strongbow, leader of the Normans, who captured Dublin in 1170. The Medieval Crypt, one of the largest in Britain and Ireland, extends under the entire Cathedral and contains The Mummified cat and rat, trapped in the organ in the 1860s. Guided tours, including the belfry, available up to five times a day Monday to Saturday.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access

Of all the things my friend and I did in Ireland, our tour of Christ Church Cathedral ended up being my favorite. Our tour guide (forgot his name) was very funny and informative. The history of the church is so interesting and they even let you ring the cathedral bells. :) Highly recommend!

Such a beautiful and awe inspiring church. Be sure to visit the catacombs and take a slow walk through the tombs and markers in the cathedral including that of Strongbow. A walk through Irish history

One of 6 or so cathedrals in Dublin (and surprisingly, not one of them Catholic). Over 1000 years old (Strongbow's tomb is on the right near the middle of the church when facing the altar). Self-guided tour is quite comprehensive with good signage in all the nooks and chapels. Don't forget to take the stairs down to the lower level with displays of chalices, tabernacles, etc.

Jos on käynyt yhtään esim. englannin katedraaleissa niin tänne ei kannata maksaa sisään jos mielenkiintoisin asia on kissan ja rotan muumiot.
If you have seen any of cathedrals for example in England, it is not worth for paying, as most interesting things are mummies of cat and rat

The outside view was beautiful. I, especially, loved the sculpture of the homeless man on the bench. I personally feel that it hits you on the head with emotion. I loved looking at this from the outside.
The inside was lovely with its beautiful arches, stained glass, and mosaic tiles on the floor. The crypt was my husband's favorite part. It had ancient books, silver pieces from prior leaders, and tombs.
We didn't get to see many things as we were only briefly in Dublin, but I'm glad this was one of the places we went to.

Thank Sabrina G
