“Location Location great...but ?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2012

We stayed here 2 nights end April..and .as many previous reviews, great location for sure...all you need to get about, is at hand outside..top end of O'Connell Street etc etc..so getting anywhere is excellent (a big plus)
Our room had wee simple annoying things wrong which showed lack of simple attention by housekeeping or maintenance...lock was jammed by paper on Bathroom door to close..bulb out in lights and curtains were of a couple of hooks...heating radiatorswere timed and very hot...in saying that staff were friendly enough...but I got the feeling this was a poorly run Hotel with not to many Irish staff ?...Parking area small and needs staff to keep your keys to move cars about for leavers etc (Health and Safety apparently)
Breakfast room and Bar areas not being utilsed properly...bar empty at night, which tells you something for the centre of Dublin !.
Entrance to hotel is a wee bit run down...a lick of paint and a clean would sort that easily mind you....These are all fairly minor and if an " on the ball" management were about, it would be sorted in a short time...HOWEVER...cannot beat it for location so minor problems were easier to live with.
PS ..room noise/talk from next door can be a problem also, late on.

Room Tip: Rooms at back may miss traffic ?...but no nice views.

Stayed here two nights las week. Free car Parkin but they don't advise you till check in that you have to leave your keys at reception at all times as the car park is quite small and they may have to move your car did not like this.

Room was spacious but bathroom was tiny and room was beside the hotels main toilet could here the person in the room above us movin around and when anyone walked past the room the door would shake as if they were tryin to come in ..

Bed was hard as rock . Dining area a little run down. Bar is quite small. .
Reception entrance was quite dirty as in carpet def hadn't been hoovered on the days we were there.

Wld not rate as 3 star hotel. Weren't even asked in check out how our stay was

Hotel St. George met my needs perfectly. As others have noted, the location is ideal for catching tours and airport buses, plus it is in walking distance of Trinity College, Temple Bar and many other popular areas. Also near Connally rail station and just a few blocks from the LUAS, or cross-town tram, which will take you to Heuston station. The old Georgian building has loads of personality but the guest rooms are quite modern and comfortable. Some of the bathrooms are rather tiny but nicely equipped. Staff was friendly and helpful. Although the hotel may be located on the edge of a somewhat dodgy area, it is only a short block from the lights and action of O'Connell St. so I felt safe enough walking home at night.

Room Tip: I asked for and received a room on a high floor away from the street, and it was very quiet.

Beautiful hotel overlooking the park. Walk to everything and in the middle of a lot of young people with a lot of vibrant life. Beds were a little stiff but hotel was beautiful. Dublin is fabulous!

Lovely hotel with lots of character. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, and the location was really great for exploring the town. We were only on a short city break for my husbands birthday, and his first visit to the city which we thoroughly enjoyed, doing Temple Bar, the Brazen Head pub and the hop-on hop-off tours. The only disappointment was that we were not told about their sister hotel up the road which apparently serves evening meals. I would recommend that anyone staying at the hotel inquires about places to eat in the evening.
