I regularly go to this pub for food and drinks. The food is excellent with generous portion sizes. The steak sandwich is my favourite and has always been cooked to perfection. My friends love the curry and I have also heard great things about the stir fry. This pub has a huge sporting tradition so is great to watch a match particularly rugby or the GAA championships - always a great atmosphere.
The staff are always extremely friendly despite often seeming overworked due to how busy the pub gets and being understaffed.

Tonight we visited the Goat for dinner and drinks. An enjoyable dinner was spoiled by our experience over drinks afterward. We had selected a beautiful bottle of wine from the menu after dinner, but when we asked for a second bottle of the same wine we received a much poorer standard of wine. Because we had enjoyed our first bottle of wine, and couldn’t even drink the second bottle (both costing €26) we expressed our dissatisfaction to the waitress and asked if she could replace the bottle. She was incredibly helpful and professional.

However, because we had returned the bottle, a member of management approached us. He clearly did not want to replace the bottle we had bought, and suggested that he give us two glasses of the first bottle for the bottle we had returned. He argued that we only had ‘half a bottle’ to return because we had poured two average glasses before tasting. (Two glasses we couldn’t even drink!) after we expressed that we hadn’t drank the wine because it wasn’t in any way enjoyable he said that we were ‘TWO TOUGH WOMEN,’ and that he would have to replace it. His attitude was derogatory and disgusting and he thought it was appropriate to blame us for their below average wine.

The Goat is a lovely place for meeting friends, and this particular night I was here with a few. Myself and one of the other girls ordered a bottle of wine between us, and later on in the night we decided to order another of the same one.
However a different bottle of wine came to the table, and it was only when we tasted it that we realised how bad the bottle of wine was. We caught the attention of one of the staff and told them that we had ordered a different one and had been brought the wrong wine - they apologised and said they would bring the correct one.
A few minutes later a manager arrived. He asked us what had happened. Myself and the other girl at the table explained about the mix up with the wine. He the looked at how half the bottle was gone ( it was in our glasses untouched besides the sip that told us it was a horrible wine) and he offered to bring us a glass of the other wine. Despite the fact that we had paid 26euro for the bottle that was the wrong one.... When we explained that we hadn't touched it, and had just poured and tasted it... He said "oh! Well two tough women are here tonight" and then walked off to replace the bottle of wine.

I feel this was a very derogatory comments made, and was very unhappy about it.
