Tompkins was a fantastic football player in the 80s and 90s for those that don't know the name. The bar should offer a healthy mix of a great Irish pub and sports. It really misses the mark. There are way too many generic sports pictures on display that you could pick up anywhere and simply frame, nothing personalized about them whatsoever. There are a few Cork team pictures and pictures of Tompkins but nothing too special. Looked to get a few drinks and some food, they stop serving all food at 4pm ! I think this might have been a nice spot many years ago but in 2018 it need a major face lift and seems to basically just draw people based on the former players name. Won't be back

Popped in with friends had a few pints. We didn’t eat here but the food looked good . Had a laugh with the barman who convinced my sister in law there was no ladies toilet !
All the staff were great !

i dropped into cork yesterday for a quick visit and and i went looking for a quick cuppa and a sambo, first i went into the mall just beside the river to o'briens and walked out as quick, the display was all over the place, stuff jammed into a very small glass case and meats mixed up together,i then went across the hall to the Pantry restaurant only to be told they don't do sandwiches only the bagels already made up on the counter going stale,,goodbye,, i then came across LARRY TOMPKINS PUB on the quays,GOT MYSELF A LOVELY HAM SANDWICH,REAL HAM AND REAL BREAD
and was served by a lovely girl staff member, should have got her name sorry,,

I attended an event here last Saturday night and was extremely disappointed. The Staff were not at all friendly and quite rude to myself and some of the other guests, they had big sour faces on them as if they didn't want to be there and we were putting them out by ordering drink off them. I overheard 1 of the guests asking the staff if they could put the birthday cake into a fridge as it was extremely hot upstairs and the cake was mostly cream and beginning to fall apart due to the heat. They were told that they did not have any room in the Keg room and that management said they were not allowed to put it in the fridge. Considering the amount of money that was being spent on the night I don't think it was an unreasonable request and one that should have been easy to facilitate. I would strongly discourage anyone from booking any function here unless they want to pay to be treated as an inconvenience by unhelpful staff
