My boyfriend and I got a great two night deal to stay here. I did check Trip Advisor before our trip so I was sceptical arriving and I'm glad I did otherwise I would have been very disappointed. Our room was so plain and lifeless, some art work would have made all the difference and our concrete view left us with no desire to open the curtains in the morning.

The leisure centre is what makes the hotel a 3***. It is faultless. It's clean, modern facilities (such as a swimsuit drier) are such a contrast to the rest of the hotel so needless to say we spent a lot of time in the pool! The walk to the pool is an interesting experience as the closer you get to the pool the better the rooms get, as in they do a full circle. I'm not sure if it's luck whether you get one of these rooms or they can be requested but I would recommend trying it.

No doubt the staff are friendly but the receptionist we spoke to was so uninformed on Claire. We asked directions to get to somewhere in the Burren and her response was 'Oh I'm not from here' and the next lady said 'Why would you be going there, it's just rocks', and she then proceeded to tell us directions to Father Teds house instead! Not exactly the attitude we were expecting.

I wouldn't stay here again but it wasn't an awful experience, staff are friendly, the leisure centre is superb and we loved the 'rocks'!

Room Tip: Request the rooms beside the leisure centre.

My husband booked us a night away in the Auburn Lodge a few weeks ago. It's in a good location just outside Ennis on the Galway Road. We were checked in very quickly, our room was located at the back of the hotel on the ground floor. It was very spacious, clean and nicely decorated, the bathroom was the same. We had a drink in the bar before dinner, the bar is nice and big and it has a lounge area aswel. The only thing was the bar area was quite cold, as if they had air con on and there was no need for it. We had dinner in the restaurant and to be honest it was only average, we were a little disappointed with it. We headed back to the bar for a drink afterwards and there was live music, the musician was very good. Breakfast was fine but there could be more on offer they just had the basics. We went for a swim after breakfast, the pool area & changing area were spotless. They have a nice Jacuzzi, steam room & sauna. All in all the hotel was very nice, our room was lovely, food a little disappointing , good location and good value for money, and if your a Guinness drinker your in the right spot . Would stay again.

The rooms here are very dated. Having said that I found the communal areas to be quite charming (apart from one Very OLD sofa in the hallway LOL). The beds definitely need to be replaced as I had a terrible nights sleep. The staff were very professional and helpful. We didn't have time to utilise the leisure centre, as we were really there for sight-seeing. The wi-fi connection was very good, although when asking for an adaptor (as they said they had them available in their literature), the only one they could offer did not work. The biggest let down was the lack of a lift or if there was one, we were not directed to it, nor could we find it (i.e. no signs or not in an obvious location). It was a bit difficult to get all the luggage up the stairs.

Summary:
Pros- Excellent room, Food in resturant very good, staff generally very nice, well equipped gym.
Cons- Bad service in the bar, Quite far from Ennis town, Old fashioned.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for a weekend in Feb 2011. The hotel was quiet old fashioned but nice. The room was perfect- clean, modern, spacious and tastefully decorated. It was a long walk from the lobby though. Staff at reception were friendly. Service in the bar was the worst ever. We went in on the day of our arrival after a long car journey and sat down and looked at the menu. The woman who was working there came out from the kitchen area about ten minutes later, walked right past and ignored us. We waited a while for her to come back but she kept her head down ignoring all the customers, not just us. We ended up going into Ennis town then. We returned to the bar the next day hoping to have a drink and the same woman was working. She stayed in the carvery section around the corner (which was closed) and my boyfriend had to go around and ask her to serve us. She then proceeded to spill our drinks all over the floor, and had to top them up. After that we left. We had the dinner which was included in the price of our stay in the restaurant and it was very nice, one of the best steaks i've had, cooked to perfection. Our server was friendly and helpful. The gym and leisure center were nice. My boyfriend used the gym and he found it to be small but had everything he needed for a good workout. The biggest downside to this hotel for us was that it wasnt within walking distance of Ennis town center. We went out in town both nights of our stay which meant two round trips in taxi (as we were drinking) costing about €35 in total. Not a huge amount but an added expense. The receptionist ordered our taxi both times and it was there in no time. We had the breakfast one of the mornings. I found it to be a bit lacking. I was expecting a bit more from the hot breakfast side of it. Overall a nice stay.

Room Tip: Request a renovated room. A friend of mine stayed in this hotel before me and gave me this tip. She ended up an old fashioned room with 70's style wallpaper and carpets, not at all modernised.
