Monkey manor

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks agovia mobile
We stayed at the Monkey manor, a 3 bedroom bungalow at the Strathisla guest house, for 1 night.
The bungalow is huge, with 4 double beds and a large living room with a kitchenette. The manor has an excellent 360 degree view of the hills surrounding it. The plunge pool is great for relaxing. The best part of the stay was the sumptuous food! We had the best Srilankan meals here . The team who took care of the meals and our stay was wonderful.
The monkey manor is a great stay option for families or groups who want privacy, a large space and want to enjoy the quiet serenity of Matale hills.

What a wonderful 2 night stay we have just had at strathisla. We felt very privelidged to be able to stay in such a beautiful home with stunning views.

We took up the offer of a tour of the local area and tea plantations and enjoyed seeing where various fruits, spices and herbs come from. Even our six year old was entertained and wanted to take me on his own tour later in the day.

Meals were absolutely delicious, amongst the best food we have had in Sri Lanka. After expressing our interest in eating jackfruit it was one of the dishes prepared for us for dinner.

We were very well taken care of from the moment we arrived. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying here and would not hesitate to return should we visit Sri Lanka again.

Room tip: Just enjoy

If you are looking for a nice and quite place to stay in the mountains, this is surely a place where you need to go. This fantastic colonial landhouse built in 1860 breathes history.
The super friendly staff offers you great company and delicious food.
We were here with our 4 year old son just to reset after a few days of heavy travelling.
We uploaded our battery to the fullest just by being taken great care of. Thanks for your superb hospitality and hope to see you ever again.

Room tip: None, just go there and enjoy

This is a nice old estate house but needs some urgent renovation in some aspects to the accommodation. My advice is not to use Google maps to go here as it would take one through an almost unnavigable road for a short distance.
Moorthy the house keeper was always available & extremely helpful-a definite asset
to Strathisla

Room tip: the pool is somewhat cold but is better by bid afternoon
