Old Harbour Master is a perfect location...with a stair path leading to the central town pubs and shops. The apartment is over-top another apartment with an amazing view from the top floor!! The accommodations worked out well for a family of seven.

Just back from a 2 night stay, 8 of us in total, and what a wonderful house! Very lived in, cosy, comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed! The view from the balcony was amazing and we were lucky to have lovely weather! Could have sat in the lounge and admired Loch Linnhe for hours! A stones throw from the town centre but amazingly it was very peaceful and quiet and you could not hear the traffic! I had the room in the lounge with the curtain and was more than ample, woke up to the gorgeous view and we had our own loo up there too so that was a bonus! Would definitely recommend and if I was visiting the area again I would most definitely return here! Thank you for a wonderful stay
We stayed at the Old Harbour Masters House earlier this week, whilst on a break up at Fort William. Our party consisted of 8 family members ranging from 7-73. We had an amazing time, and would highly recommend this house to anyone reading this.
I will begin by making it clear, this house is well used. It doesn't have 5 star interior decor, it isn't gleaming and sparkling inside like some boutique apartment. If this is what you're looking for, look elsewhere!
What it has however is a quirkiness, a warm, homely feel which instantly makes you relaxed, and feel at home.
Yes it could do with a makeover in places, yes the bedsheets could be more modern, yes it's been battered and bruised, but does that really matter?
What all our party noticed straight away is how this house makes you feel at home. You walk up the stairs to the first floor, and straight away feel like you could live here. It's large, spacious, without being too big.
The large double room, and twin room are more than adequate. The double room has a huge wardrobe and sofa inside. The twin also has a large wardrobe, and both rooms are more than enough. The bunk room is perfect for younger ones or teenagers. Yes it's smaller than the others, but not restricting.
On this level you also have a lovely wet room and toilet. The shower is powerful and welcoming at any time of the day or night.. The kitchen is tastefully decorated and has that old cottage feel to it. It's warm and cosy, with everything you'd expect. The cooker is a bit dated, but works perfectly, and fine for the needs of a group of 8 or less. It also offers stunning views down over Loch Linnhe. It's a kitchen which makes you want to spend time in it, not chase you away.
You then pass through into the dining room which comfortably seats 8, with the possibility of another 2 at either end. Again this area is more than adequate, and offers an area exclusively for dining in, away from the rest of the house.
To then access the main hub of the house, the lounge, you access a flight of stairs leading from the dining room. The stairs are quite steep, but nothing alarming, and safe for all ages from toddler upward.
Once in the lounge area, you will be rewarded with a truly spectacular view out over Loch Linnhe. This room is worth every penny you pay. The windows stretch the full length of the lounge, and being ceiling to floor allow a spectacular view from the comfort of your chair. However better than that, the lounge leads to a huge Alpine style balcony. You have to see it, to truly appreciate how fantastic the views are. You won't be disappointed.
The lounge itself, windows and view aside, offers great space and a chance to relax and enjoy some chill time. 2 large sofas complimented by several comfy chairs makes this area heavenly. It has a huge selection of books, a radio/iPod docking station, DVDs, videos and board games, to supplement the large tv and DVD player. I can assure this room will impress. It offers instant relaxation, and was loved by all our group. This was the hub for every evening, and did not disappoint..
To the rear of the lounge, you have a bathroom with toilet and bath. More than adequate and saves travelling up and down stairs. To the side of this you have a smaller double room, which has been created in an alcove space. Yes this area isn't an actual bedroom, but the use of space to create a bedroom is to be commended. Myself and my partner slept here during our stay, and loved it. How could you not when you walk a couple of yards from the bed, and have those views to drool over.
In summing up, as mentioned earlier, if you are looking for the boutique, untouched, gleaming apartment. This is not for you.. If however, you are looking for a warm, welcoming, relaxing, lived in, quirky and fun home to enjoy your stay, this is definitely for you. You will adore the views, and like every member of our party, young and old, when you leave, it will be with a heavy heart..
This house is ideally located, literally 2 min walk from the High Street. And a few hundred yards from the banks of Loch Linnhe. It's easily accessible, and a perfect base to explore all areas. Whether it be Fort William itself, or Ben Nevis, Ardnamurchan, Glencoe or the many other delights on its doorstep. Personally I'd recommend a trip to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. You can take the Corran ferry (10mins from the house, and only a 3 min ferry ride) then it's a 2 hour drive. You will be rewarded with breathtaking scenery..
Anyway, grab a slice of the Old Harbour Masters for yourself. The price is great value for money, and like us you'll also be looking to plan a return visit.
We stayed with our 4 kids and my hubby's mum and dad. Was ideal for us as they had their own space away from the noisy kids. Perfect location for us too. Spend day on Ben Nevis and evenings at home. The view from the sitting room window is worth staying here for alone. Can't wait to visit again.
Had a 4 night stay in February, 2 families with 4 kids between us. Accommodation in an ideal location in the town centre, but not bothered by noise, and only 15 minutes from ski slopes. Accommodation was clean and spacious enough with pretty much all we required. We felt that to call it a 4 bedroom was a bit cheeky when the fourth bedroom is in fact a double bed in an alcove (with a curtain) in the livingroom attic space however this worked out ok for us for the period of time we were away.
Disappointed with response from owner regarding an issue. On reporting that the electrical light switch had broken in the main shower room on the Sunday morning we did not receive any further communication and the switch was not fixed by the time we left on the Tuesday. Showering in the dark, apart from weak torch light, was interesting especially when you mix children into the equation!!
