The scenery from the balcony was excellent. The accommodation was more than suitable for our needs, although it needed a lot of TLC. The owner was quick to reply to my text message regarding patio door onto the balcony, it would not close, I believe it had dropped. The area is wonderful and in easy reach of the High Street with pubs, bars and eating places. Not suitable for those with walking problems, very hilly.

“Highly recommend for a stay in Fort William”

This property is wonderfully situated and well stocked. There is also a lot of space, which was ideal for two families travelling with three small children. It is high on the hill and has a wonderful view from the loft-style living room of the loch, which was great for observing the late sunsets. Don´t expect luxurious finishings--but do expect to have all of your needs met. And the owner is always available if you require anything additional--for example, I needed a hairdryer and he had his cleaners deliver one to the apartment the following morning. We would stay definitely stay here again.

“We didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed 16 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The house was absolutely fantastic. It was in a perfect location with beautiful views over the lough, and had everything we needed. There was more than enough room for the six of us, it was warm, the kitchen was fully equipped and it was a joy to sit in the attic lounge overlooking the lough. It was also great value for money and we would certainly stay here again. We couldn't recommend it more highly. The owner was courteous and helpful, and it felt like no-one had stayed in the house before despite arriving on changeover day thanks to the cleaners.

“Gem in the centre of Fort William - great value for money”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Our stay at the Old Harbour Master's was excellent.

The property is 1 minute from the high street with plenty of pubs and shops, the views from the balcony is stunning and the property is very clean. Some of the fittings are a little dated, but for us this just added to the character. There were several cooking utensils (and ingredients!) in the kitchen and separate dining room which made it perfect to eat together with a large group. We had a party of 8 and due to the size of the property we were never in each others way. There is only one shower (and a separate bath upstairs) so this was our only difficulty with a large group.

I would definitely recommend booking here - its great value for money, combined with the central location, makes it a gem of a find!

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 11 November 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Obviously arrived on the coldest weekend of the year so far. The place was freezing as the heating was not on and it is electric storage heaters and the heating did not heat the whole house. Between the dining room and the stairs up to the seating area you could really feel how cold it was. No curtains on some of the windows - I do agree it is a beautiful view but think that curtains in winter would help keep what heat there was in the areas. It is a bath in the upstairs bedroom ( a curtain cuts of the area from the large room) and as we had no hot water from the moment we arrived everyone had to use the shower in the downstairs bathroom - 6 of us all trying to get showered. Some of the windows were not double glazed and the condensation on them took me back to when I was a little girl.
The house itself is a gem right in the centre of the town so able to walk to nearly everything but I do think it requires a lot of TLC. There is so much potential to this if it was given a makeover. I do believe that in the hot weather it will be fantastic but if you are going to go when it is cold take plenty of warm clothes just to sit in the house.

Management Response

Thanks for your feedback. The apartment had not been used for 5 days before your visit and I had not realised it had turned so cold. I'll make sure that the heating is now on prior to a booking over the winter months. Sorry for any inconvenience but if you had called me I could have told you how to get additional heat from some of the radiators.
