After finding our accommodation, the first stop for the five of us had to be food. After all, we had been travelling for the last twenty hours with little edible food. We came upon R&B's which seems to be the only place wanting to feed you mid afternoon. Not only did we get great food, we got owners who generally want to talk with you and make you feel welcome. Becca and Robert, you made us feel like old friends and you were a great introduction to Inverness & Scotland. Between the five of us we had steak pies and steak burgers with haggis. The argument was on now as to which was best, with the ones eating the burgers almost ordering seconds! Never had that happen before!! We had to try the desserts and they were equally good...sticky toffee pudding, pecan pie and Bailey's cheesecake.
We rarely eat in the same place twice but returned the next night after a disappointing dinner elsewhere and spent the evening conversing with this great father/daughter team while we enjoyed our after dinner beverages. Great fun and laughs.
The only disappointment was that we were unable to return for our last night in Inverness to say thanks.... for the fun, camaraderie and fantastic first meal in Scotland. If we're ever back, you will be our first stop. Until then, we'll just sing your praises to anyone going to Inverness.
