Not really too much on offer around Thurso, so I landed on Forss House...the TA reviews were good.
I was glad to make this my base for a couple of days - much to explore in the region.
My room was one of the king-bedded rooms in a purpose built row, and it had just been freshly redecorated. It smelled new, and all the linen and furnishings complemented the style of the place - a little bit old, and a little bit new. Eclectic is the word. The ensuite bathroom had everything desired though not to five star standard. The grand home is lovely, and my reception was warm and friendly. didn't see in-house guestrooms. Free wifi in reception too!!! (insert applause here).
Stayed in for dinner each night rather than driving a few miles back to Thurso. Food delightful (could have managed bigger helpings though!) and well served in the formal dining room. Breakfasts were great - freshly cooked, and with fresh orange juice! The grounds surrounding Forss House are peaceful and I wandered far - to the sea, actually, which is beautiful here and there are ruins to check out.
In all, worth the stay. I will go back if I'm in the area again.
