This is a ‘must visit’ for this area. Enjoy an easy walk around this beautiful loch. Also suitable for sturdy buggy. We walked, some ran the circular route then ran or cycled over to Loch Morlich, another recommended walk. Beginning November the small bothy shop has just closed for the season but there are toilets. The trees still had their golden leaves and the weather was mild and pleasant. The views across the loch are stunning. An excellent place to chill out and reflect. I am never disappointed. I always feel better after a visit to Loch an Eileen. Closest place on earth to heaven.

The circular walk around the lake is just lovely, with more varied scenery than one might expect. It's just long enough - about an hour and a half of walking - to feel like you've gotten some good exercise and plenty of fresh air. The trees and foliage and changing views over the water are gorgeous. The path is well maintained. If you only want to see views of the half-sunken castle, turn right down the path when you reach the lake and it's only a short walk along before you get the best views. Don't stick to the wide path when you are nearest the castle - walk down to the shore where there is a narrower path that gives the best views.

Stunning walk a round the loch we always head for here as it sums up the highlands perfectly for a refreshing good lung full of Scottish air
