I love Morellos, I am a long standing patron of theirs. I think the business actually changed hands some years ago now, (different staff), but the new regime kept the same name. I cannot think of anywhere in Glasgow which could best Morellos for kebabs. Most places sell rubbishy doner kebabs to drunken people, using low quality lamb (hospital waste?), uninspiring packaged pitta breads and cheap salad (mostly just lettuce and onion). However, Morellos represents a new and bold universe of high quality kebabs. The bread is made fresh for every order, you can even see the guy put it in to bake. The quality of lamb for the doner kebabs is first rate, as is the varied and interesting salad. Another option is the excellent Chicken BBQ kebabs, which come on skewers with pepper and onion and are cooked on the grill. The bread and salad is the same regardless of whether its a lamb or chicken kebab. The menu is more varied, but these kebabs are so good I can never bring myself to try anything else! Every ingredient is brilliant - the bread, the meat, the salad - and these combine to form a kebab-sensation. I now live a bit further away but am always willing to travel for a delicious Morellos kebab. Staff are pleasant and very efficient, even when its busy. The prices are very fair, especially considering the high quality and what you would pay for the typical muck served elsewhere. One minor criticism is that they have a mirrored wall in the waiting area and on this wall (high up) is a jutting-out box, which is also mirrored and so can be difficult to see. If you are tall, like me, it is possible to bash your head off of this box, which has always been deeply unpleasant on the 2 or 3 occasions I have managed to do it over the years. However, not even the pain and humiliation of banging ones head can detract from these excellent kebabs. Viva Morellos!
