Comfortable and clean Cairncross House provided very convenient accommdation for our family at a very resonable rate. Parking was appreciated and facilities were excellent. The staff were very helpful and 24 hour service convenient. Not five starr but great value for money.

This was my second time at Cairncross house. It was a pleasant stay, I didn't have any problems, the room was clean and comfortable enough, working toilet and showers, friendly staff.
It's a student dorm-turned hostel for the time university students are at home. My room wasn't en -suite, it had shared toilets and showers, but there were plenty of those and I never had to queue.
Also there was a fast free wi-fi and that was very cool.
I will definitely go back there again if I need a budget accommodation.

Stayed here for two nights in July 14. This is a dorm that is doubling as a hostel. Not that it's a bad thing just be aware going in. There isn't much of a friendly atmosphere, but the rooms are clean, showers are hot and the wifi is outstanding. They also have kitchens and laundry available.

It's a ways away from downtown, but there are enough restaurants and bars within a 5 min walk to make up for it.

If you need to recharge and get a good nights sleep, this is definitely a good option.

as previous posters have said - you get what you pay for: excellent value for Glasgow: we paid 16 pounds per night per single room in August! OK the showers/toilets are shared (but always clean) and it's not a 4 star hotel, but I've stayed in 4 star hotels that were poorer than this! it's student accommodation for Glasgow University during term time and available to the rest of us outside those dates. The area is ok (coming up) though as said below be a bit careful when out and about after dark (though you can say the same for anywhere in Glasgow frankly). Good pubs nearby: the 78 (very close) and the Goat - right turn out the door and next right towards the main road. plenty of buses to town and about 4 pounds for a taxi. Nice Korean restaurant just on the main road and the delights of the Byres Road (and ashton Lane) restaurants are 10 minutes away (try the Wee Curry House for good cheap Indian food).
