What a fantastic find where do I begin .. The views were picture postcard , Linda and NIcholas were fantastic hosts very welcoming, friendly could not have been more acommodating, Northcliff was spotless clean, fresh towels and crisp white linen just the way we like it, I would highly recommend and look forward to returning to use that fab pool in the summer.

“Like a top boutique hotel”

IN the good old days when editing newspapers meant a generous expense allowance I would always try to book a smaller boutique hotel rather than those massive souless institutions that dot cities around the world.

And if there is such a thing as a boutique holiday home I would have no hesitation in nominating Northcliff Manor for that category.

It really will blow you away with its tasteful and luxurious fixtures and fittings, sumptuous living quarters, top-of-the-range appliances and all-round comfort.

Think of a mini stately home and you are starting to get the picture but the greatest picture of them all comes when you stand on the decking next to the jacuzzi, gazing out over the swimming pool and manicured lawns at a view to die for.

Perched on the banks of the mighty River Clyde, Northcliff Manor present an ever-changing panoply of of colour, activities and sensual pleasures.

This is a working river where the activity is ceaseless. One minute it is a nuclear submarine prowling by, next a ferry boat is cutting across to the other side then a fleet of yachts and dingies race past vying for trophies and cups.

Clouds shift and build over the mountains and inlets of the Firth of Clyde and sitting sipping a cold glass of wine as the sun goes down can be a truely ethereal experience.

It is a house designed for living and eight people can quite comfortably fit into the "Manor-born" mode yet with its generous garden space it is also very child friendly.

And if you don't feel up to using state of the art kitchen, there are plenty of top-class restaurants within striking distance.

If you want to unwind, relax and enjoy a touch of class, it would do you no harm to programme Northcliff Manor into your SatNav and just let the world sail on by.
