First of all, 3pm check in, average. Have not encountered this late a check in anywhere in the world.

Location, amazing...very close to city centre and some great food and bars. Get to The Pot Still a block up from here, great whisky bar

Drying yourself after a shower and finding an old dried bandaid stuck to your towel. Vomit.

I have never had to make a complaint in a hotel before. Our issues with this hotel were endless! Though we appreciate not all can be controlled by the hotel staff.

Essentially this was a business trip, to attend a 3 day conference. I tagged along with my husband (25 weeks pregnant). We arrived after a 5 hour drive. Lugging our baggage from the NCP, a 5-10 min walk at 2pm. Check in: my husband had arranged to extent our trip, arriving a day early. He had confirmation of this over the phone. Via 2 separate phone calls. No record of this on the system. Dutifully, we were given the agreed rate. Not the best start. We were told no rooms available until check in at 3pm. Surely 1 room would have been available ??? Every hotel I have ever arrived at a little early has accommodated me. Not this one. So we returned after getting some food. A little flexibility would have been lovely.

After check in. Our key card didn’t work the first, or second time. So on the third visit to reception we were moved from 4th floor to 1st, again lugging our belongings. Along corridors.

Our room 113. Freezing! Reception tried to adjust the settings for us centrally. After 4 phone calls and no improvement, we gave up and went to bed. I fortunately had brought a water bottle and blanket from home but my husband suffered. Attending his conference tired. We approached reception to complain and after a further phone call. An engineer came out but couldn’t fix it. We were moved rooms back to 4th floor. Donna kindly offered us a late check out for our last day which we accepted. She asked any other issues ? To be honest I just wanted to go to bed and was thankful for a solution. 113 was on road side, very noisy.

Our second night. Our new room 411. Irish dancers having a jig on the 5th floor at 5am disturbed our sleep. We let it pass. Third night, Irish dancers dancing up and down from 2145 and beyond 2300, by that point we had enough. The vibration was rattling the ceiling light to combine with the thud. We phoned reception, they asked them to stop. Only on the second request way beyond 2300 did they stop. My husband was dressed and ready to sort the situation out himself. We appreciate staff going up to speak to them. 3am sleep disturbed again by there movements. I guess this is preparing us for parenthood?

Our last day, despite agreeing a late check out, come 12 o’clock we were yet again locked out of our room, having to trundle down to reception to update our key. Tiresome!

Rooms are clean, spacious and beds comfortable. Breakfast was pretty ok and accommodated us with our vegan requests. Staff were kind, friendly and professional. Unfortunately having to make multiple phone calls, complaints and requests became tiresome. Noise from outside, other inconsiderate residence means we are leaving Glasgow for Edinburgh totally exhausted. This was not the trip we had hoped for!

My partner and I stayed here for two nights and on first impression it looked the part and the location was great.
We were given room number 517 which is on the top floor. The room was adequate and very clean. The bathroom looked good to. Firstly the safe was on the floor of the wardrobe and we both have joint problems so had trouble getting down to it and back up again. The shower was ok but the screen too short and there was more water on the floor than in the shower. This was an issue as there was nowhere to hang your towel without it getting wet.
Being on the top floor we were directly below the motor for the lift, the air con controls too so there was a constant noise throughout the night. Needless to say we didn't get a lot of sleep.
The hotel has no restaurant which was disappointing but we could use Tony Macaroni next door and we'd be entitled to 10% off. No thanks, just another Italian chain. There are plenty places to eat in the vicinity though.
Breakfast was good and plentiful like it should be at £9:50 per person, although the over zealous staff cleared our table as we went to replenish our plates, and it was clear we weren't finished. The morning before, there was no one clearing tables and we struggled to find a clean table.
I'd probably stay here again but not on the top floor. It's an expensive bed for the night though.
