“Good location...”

The good:
The apartment is very nicely located in a quiet residential neighborhood, but very close and walkable to shops, restaurants, Botanic Gardens, Byres Rd, etc. It was also very near to some great play parks for our daughter.
The instructions and the keys to access the apartment were clear.
Safe and secure apartment
Plenty of storage space, in the closets and in the bathroom
The kitchen was decently equipped
The endless hot water and strong water pressure in the shower were lovely.

The bad:
The apartment was filthy. Toilet was visibly unclean (fecal matter on the bowl), hair in the shower, spots on the sink, and the floors were dirty (our daughter's socks were brown after a few hours of walking around). My husband spent two hours cleaning everything so we could feel comfortable (except that the vacuum was not really working right). After 24 hours of traveling, this was not the ideal way to start a vacation. Of note, there are air fresheners plugged in to outlets in every room, presumably to cover up unclean smells.

The mattress in the main room was, quite possibly, the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on. The springs push through the threadbare fabric of what has to be an ancient mattress, and made for restless sleep. The old, thin pillows were also terrible. The mattress in the other room was marginally better, but this room lacks black-out curtains. Pick your poison during long June days in Scotland and jet lag recovery.

As nice as the water in the shower was, the mechanism that holds the shower head up was broken. My husband (weirdly/awesomely) had a bungee cord in his suitcase and used this to secure the head in place while we were staying there. Also, when David says he provides linens, be aware he does not consider face clothes to be part of a towel set. We had to buy disposable kitchen rags to clean ourselves instead.

Correspondence with David was spotty. The times when we did hear back from him regarding simple questions were usually a day or two later, and the responses were very brief and often unhelpful.

The apartment is listed as family friendly, but I would caution families with young children against staying here. There is literally nothing for them, even down to no kids' TV channels, and worse, cleaning supplies, and laundry & dish detergent pods are left within easy reach. The apartment is better suited for traveling friends or 1-2 couples (and don't value cleanliness or sleep).

To be fair, I did email the most important critiques above to David in case he was unaware (mattress, shower head and filthy state of the apartment), and did not hear back from him. I am left to assume he is indeed aware, and therefore, does not care.

This is all really a shame, as the apartment is in such a lovely location and has such potential to be a great holiday let.

This holiday rental is in a very quiet area of Glasgow and no street noise can be heard once inside. The flat itself if very spacious, clean and warm.
There are bars, cafes and restaurants nearby, well, on the doorstep really and its central enough for the city centre, the university, Byres Road and other attraction such as the main Art Gallery etc.
Highly recommended.

“Lovely flat”
Reviewed 31 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed in this flat a couple of nights while down for a gig at the Hydro. The flat itself was lovely and we couldn't have asked for a better location and have already booked again for a gig in January!

“Fantastic flat, great location”
Reviewed 19 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We stayed as part of an extended trip to Glasgow for a family wedding. As we have two young children we decided on a flat. The flat itself was great with everything we needed in the kitchen, huge rooms and we loved the high ceilings you get in these type of flats. The location couldn't have been better as we were able to walk to the wedding at the Hotel Du Vin and the train station was so handy for getting around when we didn't fancy walking. This was our first trip to Glasgow but we'll definitely be back!

“Great Family Trip”
Reviewed 9 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

This is a nice flat in the west end of Glasgow. There was plenty of space and the flat had a comfy bed and good shower - my two priorities! Before and during our visit David was very helpful, responding to any questions in minutes, if not seconds! We have family near by and often struggle to get good accommodation in this area without paying a fortune so we certainly hope to return.
