“A wonderful cottage in St. Andrews”
Reviewed 27 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kinnessburn Cottage. It is perfectly situated within walking distance to everything that St Andrews has to offer and the cottage itself has everything we needed. The rooms are spacious, well furnished, and beautiful.

Thank you for a lovely stay, we'd love to visit again!

“The Center for a Memorable Trip”
Reviewed 16 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Seldom have stayed in a rental where the description of the apartment reflects the advertised description -- clean, modern, well laid out, well supplied, easy walk to the center of town. Once the byzantine nature of the Fife garbage system was figured out, concerns vanished. The location of the two bedrooms at opposite ends of the unit made easy living for the night hawks. Secured wifi was heavily used -- fast and reliable (didn't drop a signal in 16 days). Am not sure why the double beds are in the master bedroom with the en-suite while a double bed is in the other, but sure there must be a reason. Even the weather co-operated. What a good experience.

“Not suitable for a family holiday”
Reviewed 29 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Although we were impressed with the decor and appearance of the cottage, it really was not suitable for a family holiday in a couple of crucial ways.
Firstly, although there was a dining table folded up in the living room, there was no real space to open it out into. Furthermore, there were no dining chairs, which made dining-in virtually impossible unless we ate off our knees while sitting on an extremely low settee or leather armchair.
It's expensive to eat out every night in St Andrews but we ended up doing just that for all but one night because dining in the cottage wasn't practical at all.
The second problem with renting this cottage for a couple plus two children is that the double bedroom is accessed off the living room, with the bedroom door right next to where the TV is positioned. In other words, if the adults are hoping for long lies in the mornings, they might have to keep the kids away from the TV - which is not ideal.
It was also disappointing to have to find that the mattress on the double bed was very lumpy (having bed springs poking into your rib cage is not very conducive to sleep), and that the garden (which turned out to be a front garden) pictured in the photographs is not private, but shared with residents from next door who hang their washing in it, and exercise their dog in it.

I would say that this would be a great rental for a couple who are happy to eat out or picnic in the living room a lot. We have fared better (and spent much less) on previous St Andrews holidays when we have rented student flats with dining kitchens and a hallway between bedrooms.

Hi Alison, Thank you taking the time to review the property, We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay in the cottage. I feel that your review is not really accurate and a bit harsh. The dining room table can be easily extended, there are two chairs in the living room and one in each of the bedrooms, which can be used to accommodate four. The double bed is only three years old, I will have a look at it, but no other guests have complained about it . The description of the house clearly states "The outdoor seating at the front of the cottage is in the fully enclosed communal garden, that is split between four houses". Most of the guests that stay in Kinnnessburn Cottage are families and the feedback is always positive, as you can see from previous reviews. The owner of this property is constantly looking at ways of improving it and it is immaculately maintained. At St. Andrews Holiday Apartments, we try to ensure that everyone has a enjoyable stay, were are sorry that your stay was not a pleasant one and we will take your comments on board and further investigate.
Kind regards

“Clean, comfortable, well equipped and close to town centre”
Reviewed 24 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Our booking was dealt with quickly and efficiently. A detailed email with check in instructions arrived a week before our holiday.
The cottage is good value for money -clean, comfortable and well equipped, with an enclosed communal garden. It is just a short walk from the town centre, especially if you walk via Fleming Place and cross the bridge.
The washing machine and tumble drier were handy for keeping holiday clothes fresh. There was no sign of the dishwasher listed in the amenities! Luckily this wasn't a deal breaker for us. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that it had WiFi as this was not listed in the amenities.
Our only quibble with the property was that in the back bedroom and living room we could hear the upstairs neighbours' footsteps very clearly.
We enjoyed our holiday and would happily stay in Kinnessburn Cottage again.

Hi Catherine, Thank you for the review, I am afraid that a glitch seems to have occurred in the property description, which I have now fixed, it appears a dishwasher was added and the WI-fi taken out, I am so sorry this happened and that not having a dishwasher was not an issue for you, glad you enjoyed the free WI-FI. So sorry that hearing the neighbours footsteps was a slight quibble, no one has mentioned it before and we will certainly look in to it. Glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again in the near future.
Kind regards

Great accommodation which had absolutely everything we needed. Previous review suggested no wifi but we were really pleased to find it had wifi connected. The location was superb as we were able to walk everywhere. We would definitely come again
