“Going to a decent cinema is as easy as ABC”
Review of Odeon Cinema

I like the Odeon. It used to be the old ABC cinema in the days before there were cinemas all over the place so it holds a special place in my heart.

It’s not the biggest of places. In fact, if you didn’t know it you’d walk past it as it’s nestled under a restaurant/bar. But it’s on Lothian Road so there’s a tonne of places nearby for pre film food and drinks and it’s easy to get to without plenty of bus stops to make up for the lack of parking.

So while it’s not the biggest and maybe looks a bit dated there’s a decent confectionary counter and the staff are really helpful.

One thing I noticed when we went was how hot it was in the screen. I’m not sure if there was a problem with the air conditioning but it was almost uncomfortable.

What I do like about this Odeon is you can sit where you want, none of this booking seats and trying to look for it with the aid of the light from your mobile. The good old days.

It shows all the latest blockbusters with various offers for families, kids and pensions means there’s offers for everyone.

If you’re in the centre of Edinburgh and you’re wanting to see the latest big release in a place staff well and with the bonus that you can pick your own seat then this is for you.

This is a good cinema, but the food and sweets are really expensive. Thankfully they dont seem to object to you taking your own stuff in.
The seats are really comfy which makes the cinema experience far more pleasant than most cinemas.
The toilets are clean and bright, which adds to the experience.

Went to see red sparrow with the gf. Bought drinks and snack in the cinema and was served by Lorenzo. He was very friendly and offered us the 'deluxe' food deal as we had bought similar items individually. We declined his offer, but he was very friendly.

The other staff member we interacted with was an older lady checking our tickets. She said something funny to us on our way into the cinema, and also on our way out...we were howling with laughter. Didn't catch her name but.

Cinema floor was relatively clean. And it was generally quite quiet for a Saturday night.

Visited on 3rd January to see The Last Jedi. They had banged the prices up because as they said it was still the festive season which is a disgusting way to treat their customers. They obviously expect customers to support them for the rest of the year but are happy to rip them off during the holidays. This is one family which will never visit this cinema again. There are plenty of other cinemas in Edinburgh so we will choose to go elsewhere from now on.
