As one of the finest Edinburgh restaurants, 'Number One' presents an innovative blend of Scottish and French flavours. Saute Foie Gras with duck confit. Borders lamb, broad beans and grelot. Rhubarb and white chocolate panna cotta. Take a seat on the golden banquettes and sample some of Scotland's most creative dishes from our tasting menus. As said , an exceptional and pleasurable evening at Number One. Starting with Champagne with our menu options taken at the bar this was going to be memorable.Shown to our table in the open relaxed restaurant. Each course was described with knowledge.Bread service , simple yet polished. The highlight being the food was complimented by the enthusiam and energy of the Sommelier.A brief discourse of the wine that was appropriate for each course. All boxes ticked . I will not go through the menu as this would be another pleasure in its own right.Fresh , elegantly presented, each component of the dish coming through. The staff were engaging without the overzealous intrusion. Easy to see the Michelin recognition.

Gorgeous tasting menu with wines. Gingerbread soufflé has to be one of the best I have ever had! Attentive staff and lovely atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend!

My wife treated us to a superb ten course taster menu. Paired with the high end wines it sounds like an indulgence. It was. It was also worth every penny (even though I was being treated!)

Start to finish from being welcomed in to when Glen the sommelier ran after us to hand us a copy of the menu we had an amazing experience. Left our mobiles in our room so we had to talk to each other and did!

Not one bad course. Worth every penny, truly. And, as Glen will attest, truly unique.

This is by far our favourite restaurant, exceptional food and service without being stuffy or pretentious. They make you feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you arrive.
As always the food was exceptional, we had the 7 course tasting menu and weren't disappointed, we didn't opt for the matching wines this time as we were in the mood for white!
It's always the little touches that make it special and this visit was no different.

We had a double celebration and wanted somewhere nice to go to for the occasions. Having looked at the various options for a tasting menu, this one came out top - and we weren't disappointed!

We went for the 10 course tasting menu and prestige wine package to match. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and gave us great insight into why the wine was chosen and why he had matched it with the particular courses, each adding something different to the meal.

The food was amazing, all 10 courses. The waiting staff could not be more accommodating, right at the start they amended the menu to accommodate our tastes and dislikes, even the subtle changes made no difference to the overall enjoyment of the evening.

The staff were amazing and did a great job to make sure we enjoyed our evening and for that I'd like to extend my thanks.

In terms of cost, I fully believe I received value for money, and whilst it won't be an every day thing, we'll certainly come back to relive that night.
