first of all excellent bar food and drink.
we were over with 4 french couples for the scotland france rugby match. on the saturday we watched the other games in the bar. I was able to reserve a table beforehand with good tv view and we discovered that the bar had even employed a french waiter for the weekend to accommodate the thousands of french visitors to edinburgh...nice touch

This is a real pub , with lots of local characters there.
Crafts ales available.
We were here on Saint Patric ewe as well but there were too crowded as a rugby match was ongoing on the screens there, the staff was extremely busy trying to collect the empty glasses from the tables , but in vain caused by too many people there.
We came back lather on in the evening and luckily found the last vacant table here and had some craft ale before returning to the Ibis hotel next door.
The ares is actually the minefield of Edinburg and excellent for pub crawling if needed.

Had a good two steaks with bottle of wine for £25 here, and it was really good as well - nice steaks and good quality Pinot

Nice location, friendly service, interesting decor, good (and good choice of) beer; what more do you need from a pub? The intrusive large TV screens, geared up for sport, are the only spoilers.

Gr at pub and what a fantastic atmosphere. Music at night. Must mention barman Tony Tres bein. Loved the gin selection and the way you served them.
