Fantastic flat .spotlessly clean and the welcome pack was a nice touch. The location is outstanding with more eating places than you could shake a stick at within easy walking distance. Most of the tourist attractions were accessible by a short walk or a bus ride away. We had a fantastic holiday and Deborah was very helpful with a squeaking smoke alarm which required a new battery. Thanks for having us!!!!
Stayed here when visiting Edinburgh for recent Robbie Williams concert. Beautiful apartment, just perfect for 2 people. 1 minute walk from Grassmarket, also very convenient for Castle, Royal Mile, Princes Street, etc.
Deborah provided a welcome pack containing milk, butter, cheese, tea, coffee, juice and a few other tasty treats - a great start as we arrived later than expected due to a delayed flight.
Will undoubtedly visit this great city again, and this will be our first choice of accommodation if it is available.
Great location, well equipped, clear instructions for accessing the flat. Starter pack really useful.
Our first impressions were not 100% positive. The entrance way to the apartment buildings is dark and dingy and as soon as we got out of the taxi, we were accosted by a very drunk man who proceeded to urinate right against the gates. However, once we got inside we were impressed by how bright and clean the apartment was. The view of the castle from the kitchen is spectacular and we very much enjoyed sitting at the table eating our breakfast in the morning and admiring this awe-inspiring sight, The kitchen was well-stocked and we really appreciated the owners' leaving us some basic supplies for our arrival. The main negative for us was the mattress on the Murphy bed. It was very thin and saggy and we could feel the bars of the frame pressing into our backs. Also, since the unit is so small, it was a bit awkward to have to hang our wet laundry on the clothes rack as it took up so much space. It would be a huge improvement if the owners could replace the washing machine with a combination washer/dryer and invest in a new mattress.
Start with the one thing that might give you pause: the bed is a pull-down bed in the living room. It's a small double and it's a little hard. So if you can only sleep on a magnificently luxurious king-size mattress, this might not be for you.
However, continue with the good: the flat is excellently situated - comfortable walking distance from all the important sights in Edinburgh, close to a supermarket, cafes, restaurants, everything you need. It's also quiet at night, bright in the daytime, and comfortable to relax in. Communication with the hosts is seamless, and the flat is easy to get into when you have the instructions.
The very best thing last: it's right at the back of the castle, so if you are there in August, you can stand outside on the walkway at night and get a magnificent view of the fireworks when the Tattoo finishes each night.
