We stayed at Alexander's Rooms for two nights in early November - everything about the stay was just wonderful. Keith is a delightful host who clearly loves looking after people. He is attentive without being intrusive and welcomed us into his home as though we were lifelong friends.

Keith has just two rooms and in addition to the lovely airy bedroom, with its wonderfully comfortable bed made up with top quality bed linen,he offers his guests the use of his lovely sitting room which is tastefully decorated and furnished with beautiful pieces of furniture and artworks.

Keith's kitchen is available to make hot drinks, and a basket in the bedroom overflows with well chosen little snacks - crisps, chocolate, biscuits and even a small decanter of whiskey! No tatty kettles and sachets of instant coffee here!

The location is wonderful - a very elegant and quiet side street off Morningside Road means that guests can enjoy a peaceful nights sleep yet still be just a pleasant walk from the city centre.

Our room looked out over Keith's lovely garden which guests are welcome to use - unfortunately the weather was unkind to us so we could only enjoy it from the inside!

Breakfast was just amazing - fresh fruits, yogurts, cheese, ham, pastries, breads, preserves, juice, smoothies and endless coffee or tea - again, nothing was too much trouble for Keith - he was quietly attentive throughout a breakfast which just simply couldn't have been bettered. Keith even gave us a picnic to enjoy on our journey home!

All in all, Alexander's Rooms is without doubt the most perfect bed and breakfast in Edinburgh - or indeed anywhere else. I just wish we could have stayed longer!

Thank you Keith - we will be back!

If you've come this far, then you'll have already read the amazing reviews previous guests have left. They are 100% accurate folks and there's nothing they've left out!

This is a sweet, quiet and perfectly located place which on arrival you feel like you're visiting friends and you're most welcome.

The rooms and rest of the house are beautiful, clean, comfortable and the whole place smells wonderful. The breakfast is extensive, interesting, fresh and Keith is a fountain of knowledge on all things happening in Edinburgh. He kindly told us of an exhibition on at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and kept us informed about the changeable weather (we had a gig to attend at the Murrayfield)!.

The location is brilliant as it has places to drink, ice cream parlour, restaurants, The Chocolate House and waitrose etc. If you're using public transport, Keith has kindly provided timetables in the rooms and the area is easy to navigate. We chose to walk everywhere and it is pleasant 20 minute walk through the parks into town and a little longer to the Murrayfield.

We stayed here for 3 nights and we have already agreed that next time we're in Edinburgh - we stay with Keith. There is no need to look elsewhere.

Book it today! :)

Beautiful, tasteful, arty and homely.Stayed two nights over the 19th & 20th Sept 2015.Working during the day but super area to enjoy in the evening.Nothing was to much trouble the rooms and breakfast were top quality. The attention to detail is a joy in this world of travel lodges.A short walk from many super eating houses and the chance to bump into Ian Rankin (lives around the corner) makes this a place I will return to again and again.

Room Tip: All are beautiful

Well now, what a fantastic time we had at Alexanders rooms...a pure delight. The rooms, the whole property really were immaculate with the greatest care and attention given to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay. And what can we say about Keith?!? He's such an absolute sweetheart!! Made us all feel right at home. He even did our laundry!! I mean, come on!!! And breakfast each morning was such an indulgent treat...the perfect start to each day.

Thanks so much Keith for making us feel right at home. We had a truly wonderful time staying there and can't wait to do so again :)

All the best to you, kind sir!!
