I do like visiting Princes Street, the view of the castle etc is incredible, however, the shops are a wee bit disappointing!

I love walking along Princes Street for the backdrop of the Old town, Castle and gardens. Shame about the quality of the shops these days. Bring back the old much more grand stores of my childhood please!

Good selection of shops, major roadworks at the moment for the infamous tram.

Princes Street is different for its setting, with only one building front on the north side, and the south side open towards the Old Town and the Castle. There are some interesting buildings like the Balmoral and Caledonian hotels, and the National Archives of Scotland towards the east end. In terms of shopping experience, nothing exciting but the usual national and international retail chains, and tatty shops with tartans and annoying loud bagpipe music all year round.

Not what it was for shopping 20 years ago but still wonderful with the Castle towering over it.
