the steamie has been taken over by new management Five of us went when there was a problem with a voucher in the apiary just over the road. So glad we changed our venue. The management could not have been more helpful. We ordered one chilli nacho for starters thought we would have a tiny bit each, think again this huge plate arrived and we were struggling to finish it. Fresh salsa loads of mince, jalapenos and loads of cheese delish. next course three of us had steak and ale pie fresh broccoli and carrots and wait for it real chips not frozen. The meat just melted in your mouth. The other two people had fish and chips. Beautiful fresh battered fish salad and crispy chips. The service and food was 10 out of ten. We will certainly be back.

Thought I'd treat my husband and family to a birthday dinner using a Wowcher deal. The staff tried their best but we waited ages to be served and the food was basic. The choice was very limited and my desert was still frozen when it was eventually served up. We were a bit disappointed overrall, but the drinks were fairly reasonable and the portion sizes were fine. I think it is a shame that The Steamie lacked atmosphere as it was a Saturday night and we had booked in advance and therefore we expected things to be a bit better organised. Sadly we couldn't recommend the Steamie to any of our friends.

We had booked this on a wowcher offer for a 3 course meal, wish we had saved our money and went elsewhere! On arrival some of the drinks we ordered were out of stock, just basic stuff nothing fancy. Our table was booked for 6 of us, we had to re-arranged the tables ourselves to accommodate us. We orderded the food from a very basic pub menu, which was fair enough, but didn't really the food could be soooooo bad, from cold soup to bread and rolls that would shatter glass to a steak and ale pie which had cold pastry and the weirdest tasting meat, if you could find it, and gravy I've ever had, cold peas, instant mash, it was awful. There should have been 2 lots of dips with the 2 nachos with cheese (lacking the cheese aspect!) that were ordered and garlic bread with the garlic prawns, nope, no sign of them. When we asked and they eventually came the 1 portion of dips it consisted of tomato ketchup, some disgusting mayo thing and a possible chilli sauce and mushy garlic bread! None of this was eaten. The kitchen was disgusting and there was evidence of men using the ladies, this was probably because it was convenient as it was next door to the kitchen and the gents were down several stairs! I could go on and rant some more but I hope you get my review and avoid this place!

Went on a voucher deal and arrived at the time we booked for. The staff seemed surprised to see us. Sat on stained seats and the food arrived which was ok for nosh but was obviously frozen quality.

On the plus side the staff were cheery and made us feel welcome after the initial hiccup and the value was great but if I had full money I would not have been happy.

No atmosphere and the place looked like it could be doing with a clean. Also if they charged a little more then the quality could also go up.

A group of us visited the Steamie for a meal only because we bought a "deal" through wowcher. Big mistake - This was an absolute awful experience, from service to food, every aspect of our experience was awful. Food was cold when it should be hot and food that should have been cold was warm. We spent two hours waiting for our meal, only to leave before they could frighten us with the dessert. Never had such a surreal experience and hopefully never again..My advice, avoid this place at all costs! Worst ever, complete and utter joke, more positively, it could only get better!!
